OK, so I have a situation and I need some help trying to source some parts. I need to find a 2 x male to female 3.5mm cable/adapter.

Also, would this plan work, obviously outputting video to the monitor and audio to the speakers.

Something like a jaycar PA3582 would probably do the splitting trick, with additional male - male cables.

Might work, but sometimes one audio source can dominate the other.

Yeah, those might be a bit hard to find.

Just get the kind of adaptor that we've suggested, and then a couple of male-male cables

e.g

and two of these

and one of these

OK, seems I managed to create a slightly more complicated solution, thanks nickb800 for the suggestions, using them.

When you said one audio source might dominate the other. This will not affect anything if one of the two sources is muted, right?

You would be correct in thinking that if one audio source is muted, the other one will play just fine.

However, what you will probably find is that the sound level from both analogue inputs will overall be a little bit quieter compared to if you just had one of the inputs connected directly (i.e. not through a mixer cable).

The reason for this is that each input source will have its own internal impedance (resistance), which will make the other input slightly quieter due to some signal being lost from the other input's internal circuitry.

Hope that makes sense. :)

Yep does make sense. :)
I'm thinking at this stage I'm just going to manually change the input, since this setup is at my desk it won't be to hard.
Thanks
