I have just bought Panasonic 3D BluRay Home Theater SC-BTT190 from TradeMe. Surround Speakers are not wireless and I need to place my speakers at the appropriate position

Problem is surround speaker cable is few meters short that makes it very difficult for me to set up my speakers correctly

can anybody please give me any suggestions how to solve this problem. Can I just extend the cables by purchasing matching cable from JayCar or Surplustronics??

Any chances of any quality degradation by joining / taping cables like this?

just do a good job in joining the cables i.e. make sure you cut them properly and dont lose any copper strands.
You could shrink wrap the joins if it makes you happier but you will hardley notice the difference.
Every couple years I'd reccomend resplicing (chopping and rejoining) again as you will get the obvious oxidation dedgradation.

Why not just toss aside the included speaker wire and replace it with a longer wire? That would avoid the need for cable joins.

Or are the HTIB speaker cables hard wired to the speakers?

Unfortunately i can't do that. There is a connector attached to the cables. That connector goes into the player. So i can only extend the wire from one end. I can post an image later to show how it looks like.

Just do a good tidy join and you will be fine. Unless you are a real audiophile with hi tech gear, I would challenge anyone to tell the difference from surrounds with a tidy join, and one with full length cables.

Lazy is such an ugly word, I prefer to call it selective participation
