Hi

I'm having difficulty getting my xBox One to connect to the TV when connected through the AVR : the screen displays the 'no input' message. When I connect the xBox direct to the TV (via HDMI 1), the xBox functions perfectly...however I then miss out on the surround sound functionality provided by the amp.

Here's the gear :

TV : LG 49UF770V

AVR : Denon X3200W

Xbox One

ATV4 : connected via HDMI to AVR via Input #5 (Media Player) (this functions fine : i.e. picture on screen, sound through AVR)

Current (non-funtioning) setup:

1. xBox HDMI out to AVR input #4 (Game)

2. AVR to TV via HDMI, to HDMI 2 (ARC) input on TV

Things I've tried :

1. Checking that relevant inputs on AVR are turned on. There doesn't seem to be a way to toggle then on/off, so assume that HMDI Input 4 is ready to receive data.

2. Swapped cables : tried using the Apple TV's HDMI cable to link xBox to AVR Input #4 : still no picture. The ATV works fine, BTW.

3. Used AppleTV's HDMI cable to link xBox to AVR Input #5 (just in case input #4 is faulty) - still no picture.

4. In TV's "device connector" menu : tried adding a new device (a game console) and told it to connect to TV's HDMI #2 input. I assume this is correct as all inputs from the AVR go to the same single input on the TV : HDMI 2 (ARC).

Things I haven't tried:

1. Fiddling with xBox setup as assume I don't need to tell the xBox anything about what kind of device it's outputting to...it outputs fine when connected direct to HMDI 1

My basic understanding of connectivity is that all (currently only 2) AV devices' outputs are connected to the AVR, and then the AVR sends the signal (if to the TV to HDMI 2 (ARC). If I connect an audio only (e.g. iPod) device to the AVR, the  signal gets sent direct to the appropriate speakers. I assume that's the right way to configure it?

Any suggestions would be much appreciated!

Matthew

With Denon / Marantz amps you need to go into the menu and tell them to turn on the HDMI / that you're using that particular input... or in other words, they don't auto-sense.

Try doing this.

I can't remember the exact process though...

So if you can't figure it out, try a micro-processor reset and go through the setup again.

Also, make sure you update the firmware on the amp prior to resetting the amp.
