Have narrowed down to these 3 options and was hoping for some feedback. I could get any of the 3 for roughly similar prices so just need some pros and cons for each. It will be a 65 inch with about 7-8 feet viewing which is mostly direct.

Without factoring in budget:

Both the LG and Samsung are edge lit, so I would personally be discarding those two. Both the Pansonic and the LG are IPS as well, which is better for a wider range of viewing, but unless you are "having a few brewskis and watching the game with your buds", looks worse for cinematic experience. I have an slightly older cousin of the LG (similar specs), and it does the job, but the local dimming is terrible and blacks are mostly grey. After that, I don't think I'd buy anything LED-LCD that is not VA and FALD. That is just me though.

The Panasonic seems to have a good refresh rate and I have heard good things about the chipset, but I can't seem to find any specs on what the screen is (edgelit or FALD; IPS or VA etc). Sammy and Panny also have HDR10+, but can't seem to see if any of them have Dolby Vision, so it will also depend on what you are watching. Very little HDR10+ content at the mo, but still growing. LG makes no claims above HDR10, so not great.

Barring splurging out on an OLED, I have my eye on the Sony X9000f (or x90f here). I'd rate it a bit higher than these models, but without knowing how much you are budgeting for these, YMMV. The 65" can be had for around the $2500-$2700 mark, depending on discounts etc, but the new year of TVs is coming (April-May), so hopefully we get some decent 2018 model sales.

Really though, if you can compare them in a store and one of the three looks and feels better to you, then go for it.

The X9000F is my next option. Not keen on OLED yet as this TV will be connected to my PC e.g. static toolbars and all that. The Panasonic is edge lit with local dimming. From what I have searched so far, the FX800 is brighter than the LG. Not really concerned about HDR+ vs Dolby Vision as by the time I have a budget for a decent sound setup, then it is highly likely that we would have a clearer view of what will be the norm.

Well I guess that figures that the Panasonic is edge-lit as well, good to know.

Another thing to factor in is the Samsung supports free-sync for Radeon GPUs and Xbox One. If you are doing more gaming than movie watching, the Samsung could be worth a stab. Or even the Panasonic with it's 200hz rate, but I you will need something capable of driving it to that. The LG is not offering much of anything over these two really.

I would still give the x9000f a strong look over them first though.

Hopefully some Sony or Samsung owners can chip in with their experience.

X9000F would be my pick for picture quality. I simply can't stand edge lit panels particularly bigger panels

The catch (and I call it that specifically) is that Sony TV's come with Android TV. IMHO people either love or hate Android TV with no real middle ground.

UPDATE: Ended up with the X9000F and hooked up my HTPC running 1080p at 120Hz as 4K is just too small from where I sit. I just use the apps when watching 4K.

Great, how are you finding it so far?

I will probably end with one of these sooner or later once the price comes down (unless OLED prices take a nosedive)

Very happy with it so far. Very thankful that I did not settle for the 55 thinking 65 was too big. Just waiting for the next update for Android TV. I have done a number of tweaks I found on the internet so its not that bad.
