HI

Want to set up my old home theatre system as 2 channel stereo.

I have a tube amp - Tri and a set of Wharfedale Opus 2 -1 front speakers.

I can connect to my Pioneer LCX 70 Home theatre amp or just to the Tri.

The use is mainly for music.

Do I Do standard wiring or Bi-Wiring or even Tri-Wiring, these speakers can do these.

I have cables that were custom made for me some number of years ago by a gentleman in Omaru. Picture attached. Should I use these or upgrade?

For the TV have a Samsung N950 Soundbar which seems more than adaquate. Do still have the Wharfedale centre and rear speakers if I go down the whole home theatre route.

My advice would be to just use what you have. You won't notice any benefit in Bi-Wiring in your use case.

I have found that many newer model Wharfedale speakers do benefit from bi-wiring... I'm picking it's down to crossover quality.

I don't have personal experience with your Opus's though.

How would that influence things when the cross over network is in use whether you bi wire or not?

But, it won't hurt if you already have the cables, go for it. It can always be something to mention to your audio file friends.

There's a (half) reasonable article on this here:

https://www.rapalloav.co.nz/bi-wiring-and-bi-amping-whats-the-fuss-2/?v=d76c77a873e2

Notable omission is one of the other primary reasons for active bi-amping is that it opens up the possibility for using high order active crossovers, the sharp roll-off either side of nominal crossover frequency reduces comb filtering, so can offer a much flatter response around the crossover frequency as well as practical elimination of comb filtering / better dispersion characteristics. (IOW all other things being equal, they sound better regardless of where the listener is sitting).
