Hi There,

I have Acamd V. 0.6.1.8 working nicely with OSCam & DVBViewer. I have the Acamd files in the DVBViewer Plugins folder. It works very nicely, however Acamd can only be used with one DVB-S tuner.

You can use DVBLink with WMC to overcome this problem by having a seperate instance of Acamd for each tuner configured with DVBLink, but I would much prefer to stay with DVBViewer than move over to WMC.

Has anybody out there got multiple instances of Acamd working with DVBViewer so that you can watch one encrypted channel and record other encrypted channels on other tuners using seperate instances of Acamd, all witin the same instance of DVBViewer.

Unfortunately, the DVBViewer forum won't answer questions regarding Acamd plugins.

Many thanks for any ideas.

Apparantly, it is possible using DVBViewer Recording Service.

The service expects the Plugins in DVBViewer plugins folder

It seeks

DVBViewer program directory \ Plugins \ Plugins1

to

DVBViewer program directory \ Plugins \ Plugins32

So I'll try this and let you know if it works .... no more DVBLink and WMC !!

It works perfectly! Install DVBViewer Recording Service, then configure multiple users for the number of DVB-S/S2 devices you have for ACAMD and OSCAM, then enter as many ACAMD plugins folders as you have tuners in the DVBViewer plugins folder. as indicated in my post above.

I am glad to drop dvblink and WMC, which is considerably inferior.

Why do you say that?

I've setup a few HTPCs for friends with DVBLink and WMC and they love it and they all say they have had no issues,

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

I find the customizability of DVBViewer to be very impressive. It also seems to be faster on channel changing, the picture looks better (because I can choose what Codecs I want to use very easily), I can check the weather and rain radar map ( anice extra feature), I'm not restricted by the number of tuners (as in WMC), I can easily change the appearance of the channel guide if I want to. I think DVBViewer is a better product, but that's my opinion.

Hi Folks - I am just going to enlarge on this thread a bit it is quite extensive so please bear with me and i apologise for the length of it but i cannot get ACAMD to decrypt for network clients - it says NO HARDWARE AVAILABLE so here are my questions although a bit long but i feel it could help others here if answered :

Am using Dvbviewer Pro as well and i have the recording service set up fine on a server computer (Dvbviewer dvbserver) and i have another client computer in a different room in the house running a dvbviewer pro client (which of course accesses the tuner card on the main server)

The client is a virtual client ( no hardware tuner obviously) and this works fine for free to air channels

The problem is that for decrypted channels if i use ACAMD it decrypts fine if i watch TV on the SERVER PC (which has the actual tuner card installed)

The other virtual DVBviewer client PC on the network in another room in the house does see all the free to air channels but i dont know how to use ACAMD as a plugin on the remote or client PC's instance of DVBviewer
I get the message when switching to a decrypted channel NO HARDWARE AVAILABLE on the client PC instance

Perhaps we need to have multiple plugin folders using the naming convention plugins/plugins1 .......plugins/plugins2 etc - i am not sure

my questions are in order to get a client instance of DVBviewer Pro to use ACAMD properly do we need to set up plugins for the client instance of DVBviewer as follows ?

Presume we have the server running the recording service and one other (virtual tuner) client on our home network

1. do we set up ALL new plugin folders for all new clients on the Dvbviewer SERVER SIDE ONLY using a specific plugin folder path - effectively having 2 sets of plugins in this case one for server and one for client (but BOTH stored on SERVER machines plugins folder)?

2. do we set up ALL new plugin folders for all new clients on the CLIENT PCS ONLY using a specific plugin folder path ?

3. Or in the case of our one new client do we have a new plugin instance of ACAMD on the SERVER side and one on the client side ? - how is it all set up ?

I guess in summary the question is in order to introduce a new virtual DVBviewer client onto the network where exactly do the plugin folders need to go - server side / client side or both and what are the names of the plugin folders ?

I did have DVBViewer, Recording Service, OSCAM and Acamd running perfectly over the Home Network, but was far from impressed with the quality of Sky programming so cancelled the service. This was about 9 months back.

My memory is sketchy but I did end up using more plugins than the number of tv tuners. About double the number Tuners, just to be sure. I have 4 Sat tuners and had 8 plugins.

Double check that Channel group letter in all DVBViewer instances and in Recording Service Hardware Settings. They must be the same. If not, then you'll get the "no hardware available" message.

You need to double check that OSCAM and Acamd settings are correct for sharing over a network . I wish I could tell you more but I ended up removing OSCAM, Acamd and Sky from my PCs, so can't go check the settings.

Being middle aged is a buggar! I have no show of remembering how I set things up over a year ago.

Good luck, sorry I can't remember more details.
