I'm the "Information Coordinator" for the Shire of Wyndham East Kimberley.  I'm responsible for Records and IT.  I am assisted in IT by two contractors (one for strategic IT and the other maintenance).  Kununurra is a town of around 7000 that is very remote (800 km from next largest centre, Darwin).  We've had numerous difficulties finding suitable local IT assistance, so have gone the route where higher level advice is provided by a guy in Darwin and we mostly use the locals to just do what they're told.  Plus there's me on-site, but I'm completely self-taught, no qualifications.

But the Shire has now decided they can survive without me and totally rely on the contractors for IT and that Records will be "done by everyone".

Sounds ludicrous to me, but c'est la vie.  (I just realised that's what Ned Kelly said, in English.)

I'm not sure what the future holds for me, work-wise.

Sorry, first post came back with a broken link page so i assumed it didn't post.  Please ignore this second post.  Can't see how to delete it.

(I probably deserve my "wannabe geek" tag.  I have to admit I'm much more of a nerd than a  geek.

Thanks Mauricio.  I'm sure it'll work out.

Do you mind me asking what nationality your name is - I was going to guess Italian, but the Freitas doesn't fit that.  Perhaps Spanish or thereabouts?  As I said, only if you don't mind me asking ...
