Hi, about 2 months ago my work bought 2 laptops for use in the office (emachines E630). One has been used by someone in the office ok, but the other one hasn't been used yet.

today we had someone installing a new printer / copier / scanner and I requested it to be set up on the laptop I use and the 2 new ones. However, one of the new ones wouldn't turn on properly?!?!

I connected the power cord to it and opened and turned on the power button. the button lights up and the machine makes a 'powering up'  type noise, but nothing comes up on the screen.

Looking at the 'Quick guide' that comes with the machine, the HDD light (Hard Drive) does not come on to indicate the hard drive is active, so I think this may be the problem?

I have turned it off and restarted it several times, but no difference. I've also left it plugged in to the power socket, for 2-3 hours, just in case it needed to be 'charged up' before use, the that didn't work either

does anyone know about these emachines? is there something I can do (press certain keys in a certain order) to get it working, or is it a case of take it in to get looked at?

any help would be appreciated!

Try disconnecting the power adapter, removing the battery then press and hold the power button for about 30 seconds then plug power back in and try again.

Opinions are my own and not the views of my employer.

Do you have recovery DVDs? It might need a factory restore.
