Just got the following reply from Nokia. With regard to your enquiry, please be advised that we do not have information on Nokia 6255 incapability of receiving MMS's. We suggest for you to have your phone assessed by a qualified technician at a Nokia Authorised Service Centre to determine if the issue is with the phone or with the network.
Do take along your proof of purchase for warranty claims. Otherwise, services or repairs done will incur a minimal charge.
I also talked to Noel Leeming today as i purchased it from them and they say they also know nothing about any fault and will not comment on wether they will replace or refund my phone. I just want some straight answers, not to be dicked around by either the network operator or the manufacturer.
Just got another reply from Nokia as follows.
Thank you for emailing Nokia Careline.
We apologise for the inconvenience caused and thank you for bringing your concerns to our attention.
As mentioned by my colleague, it would be best to forward your phone into a Nokia Authorised Service Centre (ASC) to be assessed by a qualified technician. We are sure you can appreciate that it is quite difficult for us to determine the cause of the malfunction without physically assessing the phone.
Please also be assured that your concerns has been highlighted with the relevant department for further review.
For further assistance please feel free to contact our Careline at 0800 665 421 from 8 am to 8 pm EST.
The helpdesk is operational seven days per week, 365 days per year.
All i have to do now is work out how to get to the only service centre which is in Wellington City.
Looks like the fix is avaliable now, just got this email:
"We have the software version N100V2600.nep available. Should you decide to send it in, please supply a copy of the proof of purchase as well. If you are unable to locate the proof of purchase, this will be done as a non-warranty repair and we charge $50.60 (incl GST) if you send it to us direct.
We also charge courier fee which is $5.60(incl GST)
Should you have any other queries, please do not hesitate to contact me or speak to one of our Customer Service Representatives on toll free 0508 737 247."
s.joseph: does it cost to get the firmware upgrade or can i just take it to a telecom dealer for free?
It's free if you still have your invoice / receipt. Don't take it to the dealer will take them a week or 2 for them to do it, go direct to the phone repair place, if you drop it in there will only take a hour or so.
Sent my phone to mobilerepair.com last Wednsday. Rang them this morning to see how it was coming along and they hadn't even taken it out of the courier bag. Now they have rung me and said that it is now entered into thier system and will be looked at accordingly. I should have kept my old brick i had years ago lol.
Good News. Got the phone back today and all is well, i can recieve multimedia messages again. My heartfelt thanks to all here who gave thier thoughts, opinions and experiences. No thanks whatsoever to Telecom or Nokia for their couldnt care less attitude.
