Does anyone know what the process is to re-enable "send as" accounts under the new regime?
1101: I assume he's wanting all this via webmail.
Ideally, yes.
1101: Then the obvious answer would be to use Outlook , not webmail.
He does on his "main" computer; he doesn't have Outlook installed the laptop he uses; and due to a variety of reasons (mainly, but not solely, cost), is unable to gain the additional MSOffice licence that would be required.
A Webmail solution would be much more preferred, if possible; if only for flexibility around the end-device being used.
1101: btw, Ive not had a single spam since the changeover. :-) Its a non issue now.
I'm happy for you; but my Father's experiences to date would suggest otherwise.
jamesrt:My father has been migrated to the new XtraMail platform; and has a few issues. (Note: He's a 4 hour drive away, and I'm trying to support him remotely via phone. Fun!)
- The first (all his contacts didn't seem to get moved over) I've resolved by importing a CSV file onto the new platform; nice that it supports that.
- The second that neither of us can figure out is how to mark something as "spam". Surely there's an interface for that?? This is a bright shiny-new platform based on a premier solution that prides itself on SPAM management, and there's no obvious way to mark emails as being (or NOT being) Spam? What am I missing here?
- Thirdly: Is there some way of creating a distribution list out of multiple contacts in his contact list? I've found the interface for creating a DL, but there seems to be NO "point-and-click" ability to select DL members; it looks like you need to enter their emails one-by-one. Surely not!!! He had 15 or so DLs with up to 20 recipients (he's a major coordinator for the local U3A group). Re-entering all that "one address at a time" (even via cut/paste) is going to be painful...
I don't use the platform myself. Any help/suggestions welcomed!
Edit: P.S. - One more: Is there a published URL directly to the login page? Couldn't see it anywhere - had to go via the "status" page, enter his address, read the blurb about successful migration, then enter the password to get into the webmail plaform. I'm sure this is obvious, but again, he couldn't see it.
He might like to try Thunderbird. Unlike Outlook, it's free, and will do everything in your list of requirements (including create lists in the address book). I've used it for years and it's very user friendly and very configurable, and works well with both POP and IMAP.
Somewhere in this thread there was info re checking spam for false positives. IIRC it was relatively not too hard. while I feel SMX will filter better, I want to see what was filtered, and not email blind.

How do you know that? I believe that spam is filtered for you, so you won't see it. If you had spam in your spam folder it will now be in Bulk Mail as thats where it was migrated to, and not in the Spam folder. I read that here, and for me that stacks up. So if so, I cannot check for false positives. Somewhere here I am sure I saw all or part of a process to access the filtred spam for checking but cannot find it
tdgeek:

Because there are no spams coming to my inbox. Spam : a non issue now (for me)
I would however prefer the option to turn OFF the spam filter , just in case of legit email being blocked
That is no longer an option with many email hosts , its not just xtra email forcing on the spam filters

I believe you and I are getting spam, but not to our spam folder, its being filtered for us, which leaves the issue of false positives a concern. Somewhere in these threads there was some info on how to access that but i haven't found it yet
I also no longer get any spam - a big change.
However I have noted on 3 occasions now that there has been an email in my junk folder - when going to the folder I see the email briefly and then it disappears and I cannot find it anywhere. From my brief look I have been able to see who it was from - it each case it was from a known contact who has an email address ....@hotmail.com so I have been able to ask them to send it to another non xtra email address and I have received it.
This is annoying as I may be not getting emails that I want and unlike previously don't seem to have the option of moving them to my inbox.
Can anyone shed any light on this?
I've had a couple of clients where emails from their family with Hotmail addresses have been going straight to their "Bulk Mail" folder. I haven't found a way to tag these as "Not Spam" as you could do with the old Yahoo system. I got around this by going to Settings and creating a rule to allow those specific addresses, but this is totally unsatisfactory for end users to have to do this. Surely SMX have a method of training their over zealous spam filter?

Got moved over last night, all except one of my addresses as that was created post the permission stage, that one has not been moved. What happens with that one email address as I want it to be moved over?
Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

My thoughts are it will not be moved. It will eventually be deleted at Yahoo. As you have been migrated, you should be able to create it now I would expect. As a new email address, with nothing from the post creation included, contacts, emails etc, nothing.
I'd contact Chat and ask, as they should put you through to someone in that area.

Had a lovely online chat with Vanessa who then transferred/escalated me through to another lovely lass Lillian both I am assuming were NZ based. Then Lillian said she would have to transfer me to the "Xtra Move team" and could we do a phone call ring back. Got the call back about half hour later with a very badly spoken English speaking Indian lass who I had trouble understanding. She had no idea of the previous online conversions. You could tell she was reading from a set computer script and I had to go back to step one with my query. She did not like it when I tried to deviate from her set script. I had to keep asking her to repeat questions as her accent was so thick. In the end it all boiled down to; "do not ring us we will tell you when your account has been moved". Thank you for your time, bye.
Very poor ending there Spark.
Note: I had to change this email address as it was security breached at the yahoo end. It is my work contact one and HR/payroll get a bit precious if you keep changing addresses.

She will need to install the TV app on the ipadhttps://www.teamviewer.com/en/download/mobile-apps/
Please note: The licensed user connecting to a mobile device must have a TeamViewer Premium or Corporate license in order to remotely support mobile devices.
