I have been setting up a new connection with Xtra for a client she ordered a wireless Router to use .
This arrived ok and set it up but the only wireless network available was the Neighbours and alas to far away to get a decent signal to tap into as it was unsecured.
Anyway it came down to the Router being faulty, this after speaking with 2 different help desk people, they were helpful I have to say that, no complaints there.
The new Router arrived and back I went to set it up for my client, started unpacking it all and started to set everything up and noted that the Power adapter was not wrapped up as a new one, there was no plastic bag on the Router itself, so started to think there was something not right, well went to screw in the Antenae and noted that where you screw it in was actually loose, screwed the thing in and noted it was actually stripped and just kept turning, then we noticed that the housing above that was cracked.
Also there was no ethernet cable and we didn't have 1 due to sending it back with the other faulty Router, alright yes we had our own but that is not the point.
Now all this stuff came out of a brand new box covered in plastic, you know give me that new look.
So back on the phone to Xtra for another replacement Router.
Asked the guy how this could happen, apparently people get these things and then decide they don't want them and send them back and becuase it is assumed that they are not faulty, obviously in this case not even checked, they are wrapped up again and put back into circulation.
anyone else had problems like this, I find it amazing 2 in a row..

When I signed up with Xtra, they sent me a DLink 502T which would regularly hang, sometimes several times a day. As a replacement, they sent me a DLink 302 which appeared to have been bricked by the person who had it before me, and then a second DLink 302 which wasn't faulty, but which did have significant cosmetic flaws, including a fairly disgusting greasy substance on the underside of the router. Don't know what it was, and didn't care to find out; I returned the 302, kept the original 502T (which was still faulty), and bought a new router from Dick Smith's, which works fine. Makes me wonder how TCNZ stays in business, to be honest. Probably because of people like me who paid them $99 for a router and couldn't be bothered spending hours more of my time to sort it out.
