Just got their wireless.
This is consistent - upload is always faster than download.
Tested throughout the day yesterday and again this morning. It varies, better or worse but download is slower.
So, overloaded? Bad connection? I should cancel it?
Is it better than your old connection before switching?

Wireless has a finite bandwidth, which is why that you may be in range but its not available. Given this, it would appear not to be abnormal if in the popular times, after tea, that download rates compared to the towers capacity is being well used for download, and less used for upload. As stated above, as long as its better then the DSL that you had, its a winner.
Signal strength is great.
They also say I am in a good area.
It's congestion.
I got a higher dl super early today, then back to this again.
20 is better than my adsl, just.
I can live with that.
But who is to say it won't get worse later once more people sign up? That's what worries me, and then I'm stuck for a year.
Why didn't you go VDSL?

Because it all involves wiring. Existing or fibre.
This is the one reason I did change, no wiring.
Why are you so against wiring installation anyway?

Ok, had a talk with them. They stop signing people up when it starts to get cond=gested. Thir idea of congested is 1mbps or lower.
Uhuh, not my idea of congested.
I've had 7mbps to 41mbps.
Average of 20.
Thats fine, I can live with that.
If it should go sub 5 then no. So I got them to take me off contract so if it goes to crap later (my idea of crap) I can just swap back to adsl with no penalty.
Vdsl? Why bother? If I was to do that I might as well go fibre.
Fibre? Sure, when A)Price drops to same or less than adsl b)I stop hearing about bad installs.
But I don't care too much about super speeds. All I care is that what I have is reasonable and consistent. Mainly the consistent.
It's why I stuck with adsl with them for 6 years. Other than a couple of outages and some weird issue, speed has been consistent, within 5mbps or so with traffic.
It would be silly to go to worse. And I'm not interested in hassles with fibre seeing as I am not streaming or netflixing or whatever.
Hi Pctek, can I jump on to this topic and ask if there someone with the Spark wireless service with a landline phone connected watching this thread.
I am having difficulty in determining if the service will return an envelope and led signal on a phone with the appropriate features when a message is left on the Spark voicemail service. I have trawled the voicemail settings and switched on notifications etc but can no longer get our phone to visually indicate when there is a message waiting since changing over to the wireless service last week. Can someone test this for me please.
Interesting. With the Netflix announcement I thought I'd see what they offer and they won't offer VDSL/ADSL for my address any more, only Wireless broadband. As they won't do unlimited with Wireless I can't get the Netflix deal.
