Currently on Vodafone cable and finally fibre is coming to the street soon. Cable is fine but I think the faster uploads with fibre will be better than cable.

Since I currently use my router for cable with a number of routing rules to handle proxy services, I would want to be able to use my own router with fibre. Is this possible? I currently have a Asus RT-AC66U router.

From memory Fibre (as does Vodafone GB cable ) uses VLAN and for Spark fibre VLAN10? Is this possible?

Yep you're totally fine to use your own router with Spark.

VLAN 10 w/ PPPoE (any user / password as long as it is not blank)

It is all there under IPTV in the advanced settings or something like that.

Thanks. On reflection I doubt if Spark would install fibre for me. I am in a subdivided section and when I had TelstraClear (now Vodafone) cable installed they ran a conduit on the side of the driveway for the phone and cable TV cables rather than trenching. I doubt if Chorus would do that and it would be quite expensive to trench or drive the fibre under the driveway to the house. Guess I might be stuck with cable.

That is exactly the type of install that chorus do if they can get away with it. The fact that there has been cable tv ones there for a while basically makes any objection of the tiny fiber cable going alongside it pretty much absurd, so good chance you will get it installed fine so long as everyone else concents to it.

They really dont like to do any digging if they can avoid it.
