Spark seem a bit less enthusiastic about Apple than Samsung at the moment. Despite new Apple Watches there is very minimal information on their website and what there is is about older versions.

Does anyone know whether they will be stocking the new watches?

You will need to wait for official comms from SparkNZ if they will be retailing it

Their comms are glacial compared even to Noel Leeming!

I don't see why they wouldn't. Spark is the only NZ carrier supporting the cellular versions of the Apple Watch and they've sold the cellular model since 2019 starting with the Series 5 followed by the 6 and the 7. I don't actually know of course but I see no reason why that wouldn't continue with the 8 and the Ultra.

That is what I thought, yet they appear to be undergoing a change in what they sell.

At one point you could get all sorts of things on your bill - X Box, DJI Mavic drones and so on. All that seems to have gone and typing Apple Watch into the search bar on the Spark website does not return any items for sale at all. The only watch listed under the Apple store part of their website is the SE.

Even their iPhone 14 banner was much later appearing than almost anyone else and remains relatively low key compared to the splash they gave the Fold 4 etc.

There's still a heap of stuff on there (cameras, Xbox, etc). It's all under the 'Tech & Accessories' link on the home page. It appears their search function is just not very useful and you have to go hunting for what you want.

On a Apple NZ site, the stainless/cellular Apple Watch 8 is about the same price $1449 as the titanium/cellular Apple Watch Ultra $1499. How can that be given all the new whizz-bang on the latter?

I did track down an answer if anyone wants to know.

Spark told me they will be selling both the normal and Ultra versions but there will be no pre-orders. They’ll be available on launch day.

So it’s released today and there’s still no mention of it on the Spark website. Meanwhile, Noel Leeming, Harvey Norman, PB Tech and Apple all have it available to order on theirs…..!

Yes if I want to put it on my Spark account…

Also, from a Spark perspective, why would you be missing out the opportunity for sales and gifting them to competitors just because you can’t get your website up to date on time?!

There's not much margin in Apple products. Maybe it's not worth the cost that they would incur in managing the inventory.

They’ve already stated in a message conversation between Support and me that they will stock it. It seems strange to then not mention that to possible customers whilst your competitors do. Even if it was just “coming soon - available from x date”.

They’re being pretty slow. Still only the SE Apple Watch on their site.
