I'm looking for a good home office printer, but I really dont know much about printers, so need help. Here are my criteria - please recommend me your favorite printer that has the following:

- Laser
- In-built scanner/copier with ADF
- Ethernet capable (Prefer built in print server)
- Prefer at least 2 trays (as well as bypass) but not necessarily.
- Good Quality

Dont really have a budget in mind, but sub $1,000 would be good. It will be for running a home based business, so quality of construction is important, becaue it will be going through ~ 1,000 pages per month. (Mods, move this to another forum if this one is not appropriate). Thanks.

I'm a Canon fan, I'm not an HP inkjet fan, but HP lasers are ok.

Hijacking the thread but how is the Brother  HL2040? Was looking at it myself as it cheap ($119) to just do black...

My views (except when I am looking out their windows) are not those of my employer.

In the past I've found the Brother multi-function lasers (NOT the multifunction Inkjets) to be fairly good for home business use.
My father-inlaw has got one (he's a commercial real estate agent) and it definitely seems to suit him well.

Recently we purchased an HP L7580 multi-function for home business use and it's proving to be an excellent all-rounder (especially if you want colour).
I've always been skeptical of inkjet multi-functions (low purchase price but RIDICULOUS running costs).
However the L7580 seems to break that rule and seems to be economical.

Cost-per-page is very low (they claim less than a laser, but haven't done the figures yet).

Also see (on Ascent's website - www.ascent.co.nz) that they are offering an 80GB drive free by redemption when you purchase it.
We got a wireless kit free (unit for the printer + a USB stick for a PC or laptop) when we purchased ours - worth about $300 (which basically sold us on the unit).

I have the HL2040, and would recommend it!  Fantastic little printer; had it for over a year and not needed to change the toner! (i print a lot of lectures.  Its criminal to print in inkjet; i was spending 40 bucks every 2-3 months on ink now i havent speant anything on it since buying it!  Have just bought my gf one who was having the exact same problem re $$ for ink.  Only disadvantage is that if you buy cheap paper it gets jammed.  I bought warehouse cheap brand it it jammed several times.  Since swapped to better quality; xerox brand and not had a problem since (xerox stuff normaly cost me 8 bucks a ream).
