I've noticed that I have no problems connecting to the site or forum when using my ISP-provided address, but when I connect to my work VPN (using Google GlobalConnect) and the New Zealand proxy (which is an Auckland IP according to whois data), I receive an error stating that Access is blocked on the geekzone side.  Is this intentional because it's associated with a proxy endpoint or for some other reason?

It's intentional. We restrict access from some cloud providers and VPNs due to unwanted traffic, usually associated with scrappers and other bad actors.

For an idea, we have four rules for different ASN and VPN. These are requests blocked in the last 24 hours:

And these are the total number of requests blocked in the last 24 hours:

In this case, it comes to about 45 requests/minute. Not a big number (some days are a lot more), but it also means these requests don't reach our server, and we don't have to provision capacity to handle this unwanted traffic.

Thanks for confirming.  If they deliver far more spam than useful visits then it makes good sense.

Access blocked

For some reason we can't serve this page right now.

Your IP address: 2407:8b00:1169:xxx:7753:d1e0:8020:3670

RAY ID: 7e5cb2ce6fdb1c51

Is there a reason to block this IPv6 prefix?

edit: I didn't expect that post to submit. Why did it work here, but I got the failure in other forums.

@gregb I will send a PM to you. It's not blocking the IPv6 address. I suggest you scan your device for malware.

I think I used to get this when I was on the 2degrees network (Newmarket).

Again, different from gregb's experience, but the same as the OP.

I have changed and now instead of blocking these AS it will run an automated captcha. Still, the number of "humans" accessing from those AS is tiny if we look at the number of challenges issued in the last 24 hours and the actually solved ones:

In case anyone has this problem. I was getting blocked by cloudflare because my message contained the string '/ var / log / ppp.log' (without the spaces).
