I've also observed this behaviour on other occasions where I've dialed 111. The ATA phone LED doesn't stop flashing unless it's powered off and back on again. There's no probs with making/receiving calls or call quality, just a flashing LED that usually only flashes during a call - otherwise it would normally be just a solid green. So anyone know why or what the ATA is doing differently? Just curious that's all.
I understand there is a feature of the 111 system that means the emergency service receiving the call is the only party able to end the call, unlike a normal call where either party can hang up.
Quite possibly a flow on problem from that. Who hung up the 111 call first - you, or the emergency operator?
In all Cisco/Linksys adapters there is the ability to program in an emergency number so the adapter knows the emergency number has been called and (off the top of my head) disables call waiting, 3 way calling and the ability to hang up the call from your end.
I remember having to call 111 a few years ago (One of the two times I ever did) from my Telecom CDMA handset.
The went into an emergency mode as soon as the call was started, and would not let me end the call. The call only ended when the operator terminated it (Tho I am sure a battery pull would have done the trick).
The second time I called 111 was a year or two later, and at that time was made from a Vodafone mobile. I was really surprised how long the call took to connect on that network, as Vodafone played a recorded message to me telling me that I was calling emergency services before it would connect the call. I reckon that added at least 10 seconds to the time it took to connect the call - which seems like minutes when you are wanting to get an emergency operator on the line.
Alas, I'm taking the thread off topic, so I will leave it there.
