Cannot reach steam website via HTTP.

Works fine via external proxy, shows up via external testing sites, can ping etc..

Appears the @#$@#$ piece of @#$ that is the TCL transparent proxy is playing up again.

Needs to be an option to opt out from it.

The steam website itself is up and working fine, the issue is definitely within TCL/vodafone, presumably the transparent proxy.

I'm having the same problem with stackoverflow.com. If I telnet to stackoverflow.com:80, I get a connection but no response to anything I enter. If I traceroute tostackoverflow.com using TCP port 80, it succeeds one hop past the first telstraclear server which proves that it is being proxied by a transparent proxy.

This problem has been going on all evening. How long does it usually take Telstraclear to fix it?

Not only stackoverflow.com but other sites I am trying to use today are all getting timeouts - even linkedin.com sometimes.

Some international sites work, but not others. Local sites seem OK.

Funnily enough, the same sites work via Tor, so it's likely an IP related issue.

Oh and FWIW I can get to stackoverflow and linkedin this morning Mauricio, but not steam.

Perhaps diffrent customers are hitting diffrent nodes in the proxy farm and thus getting different issues?

Which begs the question why were techs not looking at it last night? Proxy farm playing up during prime-time should have resulted in every single related engineer being called into work and staying there until it was fixed. That's what would happen in virtually every IS shop I've ever worked in.

That'd be the case if a) they actually had alarms for proxy farm failures and b) they actually had a plan in place for proxy farm failures being a priority problem.

We don't know what's the situation with either, but seeing how every single time we complained about proxy failures there was always either a denial or nothing done except the "are you sure you're using the Telstra DNS" I'd say it's not a priority.

I wonder if this is the same reason our connection has had terrible performance (sites not loading, very low donstream speeds etc) the last few days - raised it with TC/VF on Tuesday and was given an excuse around it being an upstream provider issue and not much they can do.

Yea having same issues appears to be anything related to Amazon's AWS server for me, but also have the Steam issues as well.

I run a couple Big Game Servers(Minecraft) out of the US which use alot of backend AWS services and I can't log into any of the AWS hosted service panels at present, Really Annoying! Been like this for a couple days off and on.

Funny, AWS is one of my main issues as well. I am using my Telecom mobile as a wifi access point so I can connect and get work done.
