@coffeebaron Thx for that. I'm going to be shouting her the hardware to get it set up, but hoping to put her on something that's s she can afford for monthlies on the plan.

In terms of the second antenna, does it topically make much of any difference with coverage, or just throughput?

The building itself is a partially converted industrial building, so altho it's going to make the antenna lead much longer than I'd prefer - I'm looking at trying to mount the antenna on top of the building which is approx 4 story high at the peak. It'll mean an antenna drop from there to the bottom, but should hopefully open up some options for which sites might be reachable with the elevation.

The second antenna helps with throughput, theoretically up to 2x the speed. I've typically seen results up to around 1.5x the speed vs single antenna. This is more important for the evening when congestion kicks in. I.E. you tend to get a bigger slice of the pie when the site is under load.
Also having good antennas to be able to pickup some of the higher frequency bands is a big help too.

jpwise: Hey guys, cheers for the replies.

I haven't done proper research on it yet, but if coverage is still patchy, is it feasible to use 2 antennas pointed at different sites or best to just stick to one and get a better antenna again if it comes up that?

MIMO requires you to use the same tower. The antennas are pointing in same direction, at a 45/45 (90) degree offset from each other.

That's good to know. Where my single antenna is set up, I get the max throughput Vodafone allows, when the area is not busy. But during holiday periods, and sometimes in the evenings at other times, the speed drops a bit. I didn't realise an extra antenna would give me a bigger slice of the available throughput. Nice to know.
