Is there such a thing? I'm thinking like the oldschool glass mounted contact antennas that you could attach to a car kit cradle and get an incling of better reception from towers.
Are these a thing, I realise a yagi and bare cable would do jack all unless there is a method of passing that signal directly to the handset hardware - and possibly dreaming there was a glimmer of hope of a flat pad capable of doing similar with a correctly positioned antenna away from it.
A quick google keeps bringing me up with those nasty non approved 3G signal boosters with yagi antenna packs which I want to stand clear of. However where my house is located is a bit of a Vodafone black hole with the primary tower being in the township itself while I'm on the outkirts. Changing provider isn't really an option with the work handset.
Although there is a shared resource tower of other providers within stones through of the back of the house, I need to move my devices to a front room (essentially the face mecca and stick your head sideways is all but a reality!) if I want to make/receive calls. Or avoid some of the ~7hr SMS delays experienced. All because both de-register all the time. Becomes interesting when I'm on call, yay for the primary flex pager still working (for now) :)
Anyone had success with tricks of the trade or DIY to boost local tower cover into the darkest depths

Last I inquired a few years back the region was still considered a good coverage area, so not part of the immediate rural upgrades. Newish subdivision out of Kaiapoi if there was any inside knowledge to a tower coming my way..
