We're moving to voip, fed into the existing PBX

 

The PBX doesn't support Caller ID it seems.

 

 

 

I found CallClerk software which is almost perfect except it picks up the ID from a modem instead of straight from the VOIP server. Is there any software we can connect to the VOIP and have display the caller ID on at least the 3rd monitor? Ideally monitor 1 & 3.

 

 

 

Can't find what I'm looking for on google, it may not exist

Based on your setup which seems a little vague the answer is no.

 

What sort of PBX do you have that doesn't support CallerID?

 

There are plenty of solutions if you're running a VoIP PBX such as Asterisk.

What brand is your existing PBX? I am guessing though that if the PBX can't do VoIP natively it won't support any CTI applications. For older PBX's though, TAPI was the way to do CTI TAPI is a bit of b1tch though as there are heaps of different drivers from each vendor etc.

 

We do Samsung PBX's which can be linked with Samsung XChange software. XChange does full CTI. So you get screen pops, presence screen, operator console, CRM/Outlook integration. Flick me a PM, let me know how much you currently spend on your phone bill. Our solution looks at your current phone bill, cuts back on the line rental by shifting to VoIP, and then that gives you room to lease a brand new phone system with all the bells and whistles.

It seems to me that this could be achieved by running SIP softphone clients on the PCs that connect back to the SIP provider in parallel with the PBX's registration and are added to the ring-group for inbound calls at the provider's end. That's assuming of course that the SIP provider allows multiple SIP registrations, eg such as 2talk does with their -1, -2, -3... suffixes.

 

However as another thought, if you are interfacing the SIP provider to your existing (PoTS?) PBX via analog telephone adapters on the CO inputs then you could also connect PoTS modems in parallel with the PBX's CO interfaces and use that CallClerk software that you said is almost perfect. Most ATAs support embedding CLID signal on the FXS interface, but you'd obviously need to check for support in your specific make/model of ATA first.

Yeah that was my thinking, just linking back to the SIP provider as a softphone. there was NCID but doesn't have a windows port of the server, just the client.

 

Ideally would rather not go down the path of running a pots line to the pc running the monitors around the store for a modem connection. Guess we'll see if such a thing exists first :/
