I picked up a RT57i router at the dump shop.  It has 2 telephone inputs and VOIP capabilities.  I'm hoping I can use this with 2talk!

Unfortunately its web portal is all in Japanese, but chrome translate came in handy.

This my current setup:

internet -> telstra cable modem -> [wan port of] WRT54GL [lan port] -> [lan port of] RT57i [voip port 1] -> telephone

The WRT54GL has IP 192.168.1.1, DHCP enabled
The RT57i has IP 192.168.1.2, DHCP disabled

I can plug my PC into a LAN port on the RT57i and connect it to internet using the 192.168.1.1 router no worries.

I will post the results of a telnet "show config" command in the next post.

The router reports that the SIP server isn't responding.  Can anyone help me figure out whats going on, and whether its possible to get this router to work with 2talk?

Cheers!

Your router says default gateway is Lan 2 DHCP and "dhcp client hostname lan2 primary yamahaRouter", but I got lost from that point. Make sure you you can ping the SIP server from a computer on the port your voip is connected to, and change the DNS if required.

I can't do a lookup on your dns server 203.96.152.4 203.96.152.12

Time to find a new industry!

Got it sorted!  Thank you the gateway was the solution.  Set the gateway to 192.168.1.1

After that the voip router could finally ping external IPs, and connect to the SIP server.

Not a bad deal for $2! Cool
