Like Windows 8.1, you can continue to login to a domain using a local account and associate a Microsoft account to it so things that need it will work - store, etc... This won't use OneDrive personal, which is good for companies/domains.

Why does windows 10 still have installation oddities with the locations it puts system files.

eg, installed on my PC which has two hard drives, C drive, and D drive for my documents.

Installed to C drive, but, the installer created a 'system' reserved partition on my D drive and wrote some probably important boot objects to this.

Then, I boot the machine onto the desktop, and the 'system reserved partition on the D drive has been assigned a drive letter , not hidden at all as it should be.

This isn't the first time I've had this type of issue, surprised it is still happening though.

This is what I've found hardest to deal with. Font rendering in Windows 8 and up is inconsistent and sometimes downright ugly. Kerning and line weight all over the place, I often find it painful to read. Sort of like a lot of Linux implementations a decade ago (now often fine out of the box, or with a fonts.conf tweak or Infinality). As I understand it the current way of doing things is better for high dpi displays that rotate but it's worse for a normal fixed monitor.

Thanks - good to know it's not just me.

I just tried some of the web pages that are giving me difficulty on a different PC - Windows 8.1 on a similar display - and the fonts look just as awful.

Then I loaded the same sites in Firefox and the fonts look fine...

networkn: Can I add a MS account without it taking over the entire OS, just like I can with Android and having a Wrike or Facebook account? I want the functionality, but don't want to login to my domain PC with my MS login.

when you associate an MSA with a domain joined machine, you are still logging on using your domain joined creds. You can't login with your MSA in this scenario

I'm having a really strange issue since upgrading to Windows 10.

Both of my daughters have MS accounts and have used them to log into Windows 8. We use the Microsoft family account features to manage their time on the computer etc.. It worked very well in Windows 8.1 (up until Thursday, the day of upgrade to 10)

We all have our own email addresses (own domains), linked to our Microsoft accounts. Have use SkyDrive/One drive etc....

All of our MS accounts migrated to Windows 10 except for my oldest daugher who is 11. We cannot log into her MS account since upgrading to Windows 10.

When trying to sign in to MS we are getting the following error

Strangely though. When following the steps to then re-create an account, MS is telling me that the email address is already a MS account.
Going through the password reset instructions also does not work. We just get MS Account does not exist error.
This is really strange because up until the day before we upgraded to Windows 10 she was able to log into her account. Not really sure if this is a Windows 10 problem or general MS account problem. It seems impossible for her to use her email address anymore with MS.

I will be good if I can somehow delete the account completely and then create it again from scratch. Problem is MS does not seem to be allowing me to do this, even though the account is currently showing us it does not exist.

sounds like D is your primary boot drive in your BIOS priority?

sounds like D is your primary boot drive in your BIOS priority?

The boot order is , USB / C drive only.

I disabled d from the boot sequence in bios.

I installed the OS to C (thinking all the partitioning would be done to C etc.

Haven't checked, but, it is possible D was set to 'active' accidentally sometime in the past , but not sure.

I'm unsure how to best fix --internet forums research , common advice is to unplug all drives except OS drive, then , reinstall. But, that is a bit of work.

Another bug not fixed:

Have a PC with a Static IP, without removing IP, tell it to assign IP via dhcp. Then go back and select to specify address, put in a VALID address, netmask and Default Gateway, close and save, no internet access. Go back into properties and Default Gateway will be blank!

Was present in 8, 8.1 and I BELIEVE in 7 as well.

Does anyone know whether there is a way to restore the old "close" behaviour? From at least Windows 3.1 through 7, double-clicking the top-left corner of a window closes it. In 10, and only with "new style" apps, that maximises them (in older apps it still closes). This is driving me bonkers. Is there some way to make it close all kinds of apps?

When you double click in the top left hand corner of a window you are actually accessing the title bar menu and I don't think that exists in universal apps.

Is Edge supposed to sync across machines?
I use the same MS account to log in to two machines, both now Win10.
I setup Edge on one with a fav-bar and was a bit surprised to find I have to repeat everything on the second PC.

Delete cookies?! Are you insane?!

Edge doesn't synch yet

Its coming shortly

Edge is now an app that is de-coupled from the OS and will be automatically update on a regular cadence cycle

you can right click, close on UAP apps

if that doesn't work for you, please put the above feedback into the Windows Feedback tool so we know about it.
