Hi Folks,

I am working on a document using office 365  2013 and windows 8.1, the document is located in my SkyDrive folder and I have marked it as "make available offline".   However every time the document is saved I get a "Upload pending" bar appear in word which asks me to press save so the document can be uploaded to SkyDrive.

I am connected to the internet via mobile internet and the connection is patchy (I get GPRS speeds) - so if word is doing an upload when the connection fails - word hangs and cannot recover (even when the connection comes back) and I have to terminate it using task manager and recover the document.

If I disconnect from the internet and try and edit the document offline, the word status bar shows an "Upload pending" message and I am prompted to save the document.

I have paused the office upload centre and I have set word to save to the computer but it still insists on trying to upload to SkyDrive on every save. I have also set SkyDrive to off on the metered connection.

Apart from copying the document into another folder to work on it - does anyone know how to disable the SkyDrive stuff temporarily so that it does not interfere.

Regards.

Out of interest, is there any reason why I am not allowed to edit or remove my own post? There appears to be no edit or delete capability.  I should be able to make changes to any post that I make - and I would expect the ability to be able to delete it before anyone has replied.

Problem solved then?
I'm pretty sure you can only edit for 15mins as a non-subscriber.

I didn't see any 15 minutes stuff, when I posted it was no longer editable or deletable. 2nd post was editable, not the first.

Much thanks - however, one assumes that no-one knows how to temporarily disable SkyDrive then ?

We don't currently use SkyDrive, but do support some clients using it.  Off the top of my head, I think you can find the System Tray icon, and do a right-click, Exit.

Much thanks for your reply, however, I am using Windows 8.1 - the system tray icon only gives the ability to open the SkyDrive explorer.   After opening that  I have found that yet again it has set everything back to Online Only, and also the other day it used up 500MB of mobile data doing a background sync (the metered connection setting had re-set itself).
