Chrome has been locking up a few times over the past couple of days. Have to use "Ctrl-Aly-Delete" to crash out of it. Every time it happens, in the bottom left corner of the screen it says,"Waiting for www . facebook . com. It is doing this when I don't want to be using Facebook and have not been anywhere near Facebook in a long time, several minutes or even hours.

Any ideas why guys?

TIA.

Could it be that you're on a website that uses a Facebook plug-in/widget thingie and it's trying to call home?

It’s been doing it on Geekzone. I doubt Geekzone has a FB plug in.

Almost guarantee its a plugin, or notifications were enabled.

Open the Google Chrome settings page.
2. Click on 'Show Advanced Settings' at the bottom.
3. Under 'Privacy' section, click on 'Content Settings'.
4. Scroll down to 'Notification' section and click on 'Manage Exceptions'.
5. Click on 'https://www.facebook.com/' and in the drop-down menu, change it from 'Allow' to 'Block'.
6. Click 'Done'.

Microsoft say they are working on it. They might release in the next day or so:

Official link and workarounds in the article. Chrome is not the only application affected apparently.

This thread was reported the day Windows 10 update was released but the OP didn't mention having updated his machine. The OP says this has been happening for a few days so it couldn't be the update, unless the machine is running the Insiders version.

Yes, correct. Machine has not been updated yet. I have an IT expert logging in remotely tomorrow to check it all out for me. Thanks for the input so far. Fingers crossed it will be fixed tomorrow.
