Hi everyone,

I have just got a new laptop for work, and I was trying to create a new profile that mirrored the XP admin profile to save having to go through individually setting up every aspect of the profile. I used the System settings in control panel to duplicate the Administrator profile, but stupidly copied it to all users, thinking that would become the default for my new profile when I created it. I then was prompted by a Low Disk Space warning to run disk cleanup, which I did. When I logged back in, many desktop icons were missing. When I went to the Control Panel, the user icons were missing too (you know, the chess board, sunflower etc).

Does anyone know what I've managed to do here, and how to get those icons back. Have I majorly cocked up anything else, or should I be able to carry on with this machine as is?

many thanks in advance

Since you just got it, maybe it will be easier to restore and start again?

Yeah perhaps. Only thing is, I got it from another user - it's not brand new. There's a bunch of stuff installed that we don't want to lose.

Can't you just reinstall the software? Or is it unlicensed?

Could potentially re-install, was just hoping to avoid it - looks like that's what I'll wind up doing.

Cheers all.
