Setup unraid based of recommendation on an old thread. First comment - awesome.

Got Plex, Sonarr, Radarr, Deluge, and Photosync (android app) to a share.

But now I have a backup issue. Old server was windows based and I used backblaze to backup about 1TB of home photos and videos.

Backblaze personal doesn't have a Linux client. So I setup a Windows VM and thought I'd backup the share.

Backblaze client doesn't work with SMB shares or Symlinks. Neat.

So - what solution are you all using for unraid share (photo) backup? I am happy for it to be unraid native or a windows vm based solution.

My 3 criteria are:

1. Cost effective

2. easy to use (cloud service is ideal) and I love backblaze as it was set and forget.

3. Actual backup - not looking for a backup to g-drive style thing

I have a Duplicati docker running on Unraid it backs up to Backblaze, set and forget.

I used the Linuxserver.io app from the Unraid App store.

This uses B2 rather than the 'unlimited home'?

I use Crashplan personally as it is cheaper for the amount of data I have stored on there. Works well.

@michaelmurfy - Using the unraid docker container - https://hub.docker.com/r/jlesage/crashplan-pro/

Or some other method like the native linux install. It is a bit more expensive, but not horrifically so, and I see it would also let me backup to an external drive as well, which backblaze didn't.

@dacraka - looks interesting, will do a bit of a google on it, slightly nervous about maintaining something like that. However it could be fine.

I use rclone plugin to Backblaze B2. Plus CA user scripts to automate. Works well, cheap as chips. I pay a couple of dollars a month for a few hundred GB.

Not sure what you mean by "unlimited home"?

Duplicati connects directly to the Backblaze buckets with an API key. The web based configuration allows you to setup scheduled backups of selected Unraid folders to specific buckets.

There is a personal plan for $99USD a year. 'Unlimited data'.

B2 is per GB, and at the amount of data I have will cost similar, but you know, more photos every day.

Can duplicati hook up to the personal bucket?

Yeah - honestly I'm not too keen on scripting things, kinda looking an 'app' experience with warnings and ui buttons :)

Fair enough, though I would encourage you to have a play - it is simpler than you might think. Once you're through the initial config (which is CLI but guided), my script is essentially

 rclone copy "/mnt/user/photos/" "b2:myBucket/photos/"

Run once a week.

Rclone supports a ridiculous number of cloud backup providers, and does have a text UI (norton commander esque) and a beta GUI.

Ok - thats fair :) I will take a look, and have a play. Duplicatti is looking pretty attractive as a first cut.

Sorry I don't know, I seem to remember that I worked out at the time that paying the $.005c per gig was a more economical way to do it. i.e. at the current Personal 12 month plan I'd have to have 1 Terabyte in there to break even.

It really is set and forget, I just logged into BB (last login 2019) to check the setup and found I also have a key I generated for rClone, and remembered I have some rClone scripts syncing stuff as well :)

Another rclone user here. It hasn't been mentioned, but rclone can also encrypt data. I presently use it with both Google Drive and OneDrive for daily backups and have simple scripts to store multiple revisions of source code and other files where a backup history may be useful.

I previously used Duplicatti, but I found rclone much easier to work with.

I use Cloudberry Backup with Backblaze B2 on my Windows machines and Cloudberry Backup with Azure on servers (Azure is MUCH faster).

On my Synology NAS I use the native backup to Backblaze - the native backup uses S3 API but Backblaze buckets support this now.

But as mentioned the OP was on the "Personal" Backblaze, which has its own application, not the B2 storage that can be used with a lot of different clients.

Trying Duplaciti and B2 - took about 20 mins to setup and seems to be working like a charm.
