We had a couple of relatives plus the in-laws here on Friday, so I've done another churrasco. I won't post photos as they are pretty much the same as before - but interested in that Ooni pizza oven...

I like the idea of the Pizza oven, but in reality, how much are people making Pizza? I guess it would vary on household.. I'd struggle to justify $600-1000 on a decent one if you are doing even 10 pizzas a year... Are people doing more than that?

I have 4 kids and a wife, who frequently want pizza (unfortunately we live walking distance to Domino’s) so I’d get my money’s worth pretty quickly. We’d do at least 50 pizzas a year.
We had a wood fired oven overseas which made the best pizzas, found no pizza restaurant in Tauranga or Hamilton that comes near it.

I’m a glutard so won’t be eating them myself.

We have pizza at least once a week. Two pizzas, 104 over the year. Done.

Little Miss MDF had gluten issues when younger (digestive system developed and grew out of it eventually but I feel your pain). But the upshot is that I made GF pizza bases a lot; so long as you do it fresh but they were actually really good. I can't find the one we used to use (pig in the kitchen; now a dodgy redirect) but it was along these lines using the Healtheries corn/rice flour baking mix:

Handle9: If you want something dedicated then the ooni fyra is probably with looking at as well.

Alternatively, one of those Green Mountain woodpellet BBQs would do pizza as well. I am trying to persuade the Minister of Finance that we need one of those..!

That's a slightly different league in price and you still need another pizza grill attachment I think.

I'm getting a Weber GA for Christmas (at my request). I'm quite looking forward to having a small portable charcoal grill.

It’s also a multi function device - bbq, smoker and pizza oven - not just a pizza oven.

I think doing Churrasco in the oven would be awesome.

Wow. That's a lot of pizza! :)

I can see how easily someone could justify that.

Yup, the GMG grill needs another pizza oven attachment. Great once it's going, but it does require you to swap things out if one week you want to grill or smoke, and the next week you want to use the pizza oven. I also find that it uses a crap load of pellets as you need to leave it running for about an hour before the oven gets up to temp (160 deg gets you about 400+ deg inside the pizza attachment oven) so I usually buy the cheaper pellets from Bunnings to fuel this, instead of the more premium flavoured pellets.

Otherwise, it's been amazing to be able to cook ristorante-style pizza at home! (Although as per below, my pizza stretching into a circle needs some work lol)
