Tinkerisk:neb: You've got spargel, no taste, no texture, not even colour, just pasty mushy nothing, there's no need to import chokos if you grow the equivalent locally:I'm very sorry for you. South of the city is one of the largest main growing areas for white, local asparagus and I can only say that it tastes excellent if you know how to treat and cook it properly. In comparison the green asparagus is stronger, more cabbage-like. So here people are fighting for places in the country inns as the season is about to start. It‘s currently about 20€/kg (34 NZD/kg) on the farmer‘s markets.
The first time I went to Germany for Hannover Messe it was white asparagus season and every function we went to was serving white asparagus. I’ve never been so sick of a vegetable as I was at the end of that week.
