gjm: I rate Wendys for having the best nuggets. Cant stand McDees ones now, used to really like them but they dont taste the same. Wendys is my destination of choice if fast food is required :)

McDees? Dunno, last time I saw it was just MD's

Chicken Tenders looked like this http://www.burgerking.com.uy/content/chicken-tenders-18

(
This is BK in another country that still has them)

These are the nuggets

http://www.burgerking.co.nz/menu-item/bk-chicken-nuggets

Coating is quite different, different shape

The key difference is the type of chicken meat used.. tenders are specifically the meat under the breast either side of the breastbone. Nuggets are.. whatever bits the manufacturer has scraped together - thus quality can vary, particularly between manufacturers. Some are made from chicken breast, and can be very nice, but some are just made from slurry. Also, nuggets typically have a crisper, batter-like coating, when tenders are often crumbed.

Both BK and Maccas nuggets claim to be made from chicken breast from Ingham

One has more minced anus but the other has more eye and knee cartilage, but not sure which has what :)

I fully agree with the OP - I used to go out of my way to get BK tenders to savour their peppery-coated goodness.

When I first discovered they were gone on a trip to BK early this year, I ordered the nuggets but they were absolutely fowl (pun intended). Flavourless and bland. Their tenders used to compensate for their often mediocre chips, but no more.

I am a bit of a nugget, tender and schnitzel connoisseur, so this change has really ground my gears. I haven't been back since that visit.

KFC also changed their popcorn chicken 'recipe' some months back. The shape has changed (used to be irregular, now all uniformly sphere shaped) and the coating is not as nice as it used to be.

What the hell is this world coming to?

joker97: EeeeWwww?

I know right but it's probably the most accurate description of the chicken nuggets main ingredient you'll ever get

“Striated muscle (chicken meat) was not the predominate component in either nugget,” the researchers noted in their study. “Fat was present in equal or greater quantities along with epithelium, bone, nerve, and connective tissue.” Epithelium is one of the four types of animal tissue, and usually lines cavities and structures throughout the body. The study ultimately concluded that “chicken nuggets are mostly fat, and their name is a misnomer.”

Never eaten them since I found out what went into them..!

Of course, that may have changed in these days of increased public scrutiny.

After spending 9 days in Masterton hospital a few years back being treated for Listeriosis, which I suspect came from a certain fried chicken establishment, I have avoided all forms of fast food chicken.

Glassboy: The Lower Hutt BK is disgusting.  Most burgers from the Lambton Quay store seem to have died of shame.

Yep. Lambton Quay was where I got mine. It was the regular double whopper sized buns, but basically had two meat patties, one hard white lettuce stalk, and one solitary bit of onion. All the filling and sauce I remember getting previously was missing, and it was basically close to inedible. Basically some random bits carelessly thrown together by someone who didn't seem to give a continental about what was supposed to be there or serving customers a nice burger. Didn't want to complain because of the people I was with, but I probably should have.

Won't be going back any time soon.

Interestingly, for 12:30 on a Friday lunchtime, the place was three-quarters or more empty seats. I remember that it used to be packed with difficulty finding a table. I suspect I may now know why there's hardly anyone there now?
