Wow so many other banger lovers ;-p

I do love a good Boerewors.

At the moment just eating "Beard Brothers" Old School Pork sausages, the best that Paknsave have imo.

Sometimes we go to the Blackforest Gourmet Butchery (German, my other half is so she gets her fix on some of their other stuff like fleisch salad (not the best but good enough), lieberwurst (kind of like liver pate but better, its pretty good there) and their various types of wurst are good but not cheap.

I will have to try these other ones recommended on the shore, thank you.

Our daily driver sausages are Beard Bros beef from Pak n Save - pretty good.

Sometimes I just sit and think. Other times I just sit.

If you fancy a roadie south, the trip to Drury Meats (in Drury) is worth it for their sausages.

Edit: I should add, their bacon is awesome too.

So true, we actually buy both coz it's impossible to choose between them.

Bacon and eggs in the Pokeno Bacon cafe is a real treat for us. We go there very infrequently but wonderful.

Just before lock down my brother in Taupo introduced me to these: Harmony Sausage from Pak 'n' save.  Depending upon the store is whether they stock them. They are absolutely yummy.

Also at Pak 'n' Save is Beard Brothers wild venison sausages. Plus I have never had a dud banger from Aussie Butcher.

Whilst the difficult we can do immediately, the impossible takes a bit longer. However, miracles you will have to wait for.

I quite like some of the vege/vegan sausages you can get at supermarkets - and they've only got a bit less meat than the typical commercial meat sausage.

Probably not really good in terms of the animal welfare reasons why some people don't eat meat, if people stopped eating sausages, then they'd have to turn ear meat, nose meat, sphincter muscle meat, and NSFW meat into pet food or fertiliser, which is kind of wasteful and disrespectful for the beast that kindly gave it's life to satisfy our appetites.

I do like to see what I'm eating, and a sausage is pretty close to the perfect recipe to make sure I can't.

Not an issue. Become a hunter as well and make your own sausages. :-)

Some different small goods I've had made over the years, from game I've hunted: -

- Venison (great, especially the salami)

- Thar (salami was good)

- Canadian goose (great sausages, amazing and the fat from the pan can be used to finish the roast spuds)

- Bennett's Wallaby (too lean for anything)

- Hare (amazing sausages, too lean for salami)

- Goat (not soo good)

- Chamois is still on the to do list

I've tried alpaca sausage and I don't recommend it.  Roast alpaca is quite good.

Hmm - I’d be wary - could be leathery, eh.

However impressed and a bit envious of all the other things you’ve tried.

Haha, the meat not the skin, that's for drying the car.

I think I've shot and eaten most of the game NZ has to offer.

Actually, another animal I'm keen to sausagise recently fledged paradise duck (also called flappers).

Lot's of free food out here if you own a rifle and know a friendly farmer or two.

Between game and seafood, we always have a full freezer.  That reminds me - Paua sausage could be interesting.  Pauas make great wontons.

- Bennett's Wallaby (too lean for anything)

BBQ'd meat from a couple of those a few years back, I had great expectations as kangaroo meat I've eaten at restaurants in Aus, possibly aged on the side of the road whilst being marinated in crow spit, was pretty damned nice.

The wallaby - cooked on a grill on campfire BBQ after being marinated in herbs/red wine was truly bloody awful.  Dry and tough.  I blamed the cook, but possibly unfair to her.  The male ("jack"?) was big - almost the size of an average female Eastern grey roo.  I was driving between Fairlie and Geraldine a few weeks back, and there was a large wallaby road-kill on the side of the road - not really where I'd expect to see one.  The ones we ate a few years ago were shot near the eastern shores of Benmore.  They seem to be spreading fast.  Hitting one with a car doing 100km/h would be pretty nasty.

Goat is really nice - so long as it's young - much like sheep.  My MIL used to farm goats, when one annoyed her by jumping a fence and demolishing her flower garden, she'd grab the .22 out of the hot water closet and serve it for dinner. I've eaten old ram roasted - one of a few meat dishes that came close to turning me vegetarian.  When the cooked meat still stinks of old ram or billygoat, it's not going to be great.  Even the spuds roasted in the same pan were inedible to me.

Yep, like I said, Im use to making my own from hunting, but at the moment its not convenient (health reasons, trying to keep business afloat is a struggle with MS)

I saw Sams in Silverdale has one the best bacon award many times. Not much of a bacon guy but like wrapping chicken thighs with streaky.

Will see if they 100% meat like the Blackforest Gourmet Butchery (German) in Albany village up the road turn left.

Will also make an effort to get to Pinehill, they look like they have a lot of variety. Will buy in bulk.
