Somewhat related.. my personal bug bear is seeing peoples kitchen breakfast benches littered with cordless phones plugged in, charger wall warts etc.

solution -  mount a couple outlets under bench in the cupboard, have either a 20-30mm diameter hole in the bench or a cut out of some sort.
