I actually think that's pretty lousy service.  I have had my N1 repaired a couple of times by HTC (in the US).

Once I reported the fault to them, pretty much the next day they would email me a Fedex label to send the phone to them and a link to enter my credit card details.  The phone would take about 2 -3 days to repair after which the phone was Fedex'ed back to me.

Of course I hasten to add I could not use their label so I just posted the phone to them but kept enough of the label to identify the phone and me (bar code), Then they sent the phone back to my brother in LA who mailed to to me. But the entire process only took about 16 days in total.

Assuming the organisation who sold the phone to the OP had to send the phone offshore to be repaired, this is pretty much what I did and it did not take 4 weeks.

Staying in Wellington. Check out my AirBnB in the Wellington CBD.  https://www.airbnb.co.nz/h/wellycbd  PM me and mention GZ to get a 15% discount and no AirBnB charges.

richms: If you want immediate swap out etc then you shouldn't have gone to a bottom of the barrel parallel importer IMO. cheapest on pricespy is usually there for a reason.

They were not the cheapist on price spy. I went with them because of their rating on price spy (which was good).

Also, I do not expect an immediate swap out, I am not unrealistic.

What I DO expect however is a resonable period of time to resolve the issue. 2 weeks is a long period of time for a repair, but I can accept this may be necessary. When did 3-4 weeks become acceptable? Especially with an item as essential as a phone.

How would you feel if your car was faulty when you purchased it new and it had to go for a repair which would take 3-4 weeks?

Why shouldnt I expect a resonable time frame? It is their responsability to include this cost in the price, they legally have to provide this service. Why should it matter if I buy from the cheapist store around? It shouldnt.
