Slow uptake of Paywave here is pretty much down to fees.
EFTPOS I think we were one of the fastest to accept when introduced , but that was rolled out with very low fee structure.

Paywave is much more expensive here than UK or Aussie , i think Aussie had to put hard word on banks and legislate.

The average fee charged for credit cards is 1.6 per cent but they can top 2 per cent.
That compares to 0.8 per cent on average in Australia and 0.5 per cent in the United Kingdom.

Average does not really tell the full story.
If you are a small trader with low $ value per transaction there are much higher costs that make it uneconomic in normal times.
The big guys have negotiating power, pushing costs down to the smaller operators.

It does mean people have to carefully manage their credit card account, which is a problem for some.
Thus budgeting center advice to in the past to get rid of your credit cards .

its certainly about time that something was done to align our paywave costs with at least Australia.

Be nice to have some Sal's again but I don't think they do drive-through.

They are doing online pay and collect from some stores, as well as delivery. From the email they sent:

Our ovens are hot, our pizza makers are ready, and our ONLINE ordering is back up and running for next Tuesday for all of your Sal's Pizza needs! We're slingin' Sal's on UberEats, Sal's Delivery, and Click & Collect. But first, here's a few things we’d like to share with you:

  1. ALL orders must be prepaid ONLINE via our website to avoid in-store transactions and eliminate cash payments.
  2. Once your ONLINE order for Click and Collect is ready, we will text/call you to ensure we get the correct order to the right people! At this time, please show your order confirmation text at the door so we can be sure to give you your precious pizza purchase!
  3. If you're an UberEats driver, please maintain a 1 meter distance from others who are waiting for their orders.

Sals do their own delivery as well as use Uber Eats if you are wanting to avoid them.

I would pickup from them, but I dunno if Birkenhead are doing it. Anyway, I'll hold off for now until the level steps down further.

Trunks2:

Received an email from Wendy's with this Youtube video on how they're doing drive-thru.

I wonder what you do when they get the order wrong - go back thru?

Makes little odds to me. Nearest would be an 80 km round trip. A bit far for a burger.

I have to go to the end of my road and then another 550m to get to my nearest food place. Its domino's, another 70m or so around the corner for the Chinese/burger place.
