Kookoo: Does anyone know how to cancel an order on Aliexpress? Ordered a couple of USB cables 2 weeks ago and just got notified "parcel delayed, expected delivery 9 September". On the one hand - good thing they notified me. On the other - over 3 months wait for a couple of USB cables is a bit excessive.

This happen to me, I waited until the shipping date (20 days in my case) and they had not shipped, I filed a dispute and they didn't fight it, refunded in about 30 days.

The interesting thing is when I tried to message them, they keep saying it's shipped it's shipped we can't cancel "dear friend". I think they have a script their company expects them to follow, almost a waste of time talking to them

Probably impossible.

If the item has not been shipped, you probably can cancel it. However, if the item has been shipped then it is unlikely you can cancel it. I have a similar experience to your with parcel delay. I ordered in early May. The Original estimated delivery is early to mid June. A couple of weeks later it got changed to "Logistics Delay" with a new estimated delivery of mid July. About 2.5 months. I have another parcel recently which only took 15 days to arrive via Singapore Post and that was a record for me in the last 6 months.

Sigh. AliExpress shipping is very much luck of the draw. I think AliExpress is really doing themselves no favour as the unpredictable shipping will put off a lot of people how matter how good the price is.

It's marked as "shipped" so I guess no cancellations for me. I suspect the seller is manipulating the system.

They probably don't have the item in stock to start with. When you order it they mark it as "shipped" before notifying you that the "parcel has been delayed" to ensure you can't cancel. In the meantime they wait till they get enough orders to fulfill an MRQ from the wholesaler, and once they get the item back in stock it will magically get on its way again. Which also explains the lottery around shipping - it doesn't depend on your luck with the freight forwarder/courier, but purely on how long it will take the retailer to get enough orders to place an order with a wholesaler. And the beauty of it all is that the retailer takes no risks because the wholesale order is financed by the retail customers.

Hope your product has a 75 day refund, I would pay attention and get that refund as there is a very good chance it just won't show up

Ordered a couple of alarm clocks on 20 May, they were delivered yesterday  (albeit to the wrong address by the dunb*ss Aramex courier but that's not AliExpress' fault).  That's a pretty good result.

Did Eric Clapton really think she looked wonderful...or was it after the 15th outfit she tried on and he just wanted to get to the party and get a drink?

Kookoo: . I suspect the seller is manipulating the system. They probably don't have the item in stock to start with..

100% correct there . These sellers dont stock everything they list .
Ive had that happen many times. Often they will give a bogus tracking number .

Its just a stupid mindset , where you risk your seller reputation for the sake of a few $ , that will eventually be refunded after  a dispute is filed.
Perhaps they just start up a new Ali store once they have too many bad feedbacks , and carry on with the same dodgeyness ?

There are some honest sellers on Ali , they contact you & offer a refund straight away . Unfortunately, thats the minority .

Feedbacks seem to mostly stick with the product so they delete the listing and relist it again. I have many things in my wishlist where the listing is gone greyed out but the seller has the same things for sale again.

I had this happen on 2 recent occasions ... established seller with no negative reviews on the item.

Then I ordered the item, and a few weeks later I see negative reviews that they stalled delivery or sent the wrong(cheaper) model.

In both these cases they sent the item late and using a cheaper shipping option (I got a partial shipping refund from one product)

I've had some recent orders arrive quickly compared to earlier this year or last, but suggest this one was perhaps too quick to be true - ordered an item on 20 May, and received a 'delivered' notification on 1 Jun. No parcel had been delivered but that's not what the tracking info claims, which says it has been delivered to my address (NZ) in, of all places, The Netherlands! (see below)

Contacted the seller and got this reply: "Dear customer, sorry to tell you that your order been stopped. Pls send me your paypal account. We will refund you money asap."

I call scam, and said this in reply to their message; I'm unable to lodge a dispute yet, but certainly plan to do so. I'm wondering in setting up their fakery they mistook NZ for Zeeland?! Would others agree it's dodgy, or could there be a legitimate reason?

It could be a genuine mistake, accidentally providing the wrong tracking number. Or, it could be dodgy. Let AliExpress handle the refund.

As for speed, I had a shipping notification on 25 May and that item has been in New Zealand since Tuesday (1 July) according to the tracking. That's a Yanwen package, with a NZ tracking number provided the day after collection.

I ordered a replacement screen from AliExpress last Sunday, arrived yesterday. Used DHL.
Also ordered some USBC to lightening adapters and also selected DHL but seller send via standard Ali shipping. I am now arguing over refund amount.

Just FYI

NEVER accept a paypal payment as a refund. Never.
Its a known scam. They pay money to your paypal a/c (as a payment, not a refund), then they make a paypal dispute against you & get their money back .

If you originally paid Aliexpress by paypal, go though the proper procedures for refunds.

Presumably what you mean is that they pay you via paypal and ask you to confirm delivery, so they get your money from AliX, then dispute their payment to you.

There are also a number of very common scams that centre around overpaying someone by some means or other (e.g. buying a car, then cancelling the deal) , and then asking for a refund (less a generous amount "for your trouble") by e.g. Western Union or iTunes vouchers. Too late, the victim finds that payment they received is reversed because it was made with a stolen credit card, and the victim has no way of tracing, let alone recovering, their own payment.

My rule is to always buy from AliX by credit card -- if everything goes tits up you can dispute it with the CC company and get your money back that way. And only buy from someone who has a long history and good feedback.

It's worth contacting AliExpress if things do go tits up. I had one dispute where AliExpress decided a partial refund was appropriate both in the first instance and on appeal. I contacted customer service via their live chat interface and informed them that it wasn't a satisfactory outcome. They assured me someone would look at it, but I didn't really expect anything to be done. To my surprise, they actually did actually investigate and provide a full refund.
