Hi. I currently have a 2nd fridge in the garage, unplugged & under plastic for the last month.

Does anybody have recommendations on how to store the fridge? I don't need it on & it won't be used for the next 12-18 months.

Very good clean inside beforehand, or nasty things will grow in it. Or leave the door slightly open for air circulation. Make sure no kids can play hide and seek inside it.

Thankfully no kids around; wouldn't want them to potentially suffocate on the plastic either. Garage gets dusty & I think more nasty things can get in if the door is left open.

Thx for the suggestions.

Yeah cleaning and especially drying is important, otherwise you'll be guaranteed to wind up with mould.

Speaking from experience, you'll prefer some dust over the mold. And yes, even if you spray the entire inside surface with bleach before closing the door, you'll still get mold.

Buy some baking soda. Put in a bowl in the fridge, it will help keep mould and smells away. Have done this many times when going overseas.

You'll need quite a lot if you arent planning on using it for that long.

An easier way to do it is buy the Pam's baking soda in the small boxes and stab it a few times with a steak knife to puncture the bag inside. Have used this often when storing things in the shed etc.
