Udemy seems really comprehensive, a lot of stuff to touch up and even some new topics. With Linked in Learning there are so many courses its hard to pick just one.

Of course you do not get a certificate with either. Would be cool if Linked in learning courses showed what you had done, but then I guess people could just say they have done them but havnt really?

Yeh that is what I thought. There are other similar courses, but they wouldnt tell me what I don't already know, eg one was "Project Management - Software aross Large Organisations" or something like that, it was very much basic PM functions, Waterfall, Implementation, Testing etc. What I liked about the one I linked is, its quite diverse, it shows many ways to manage a project, which is more what im use to. eg it shows you how from a Watefall SDLC perspective then across an Agile environment For $50 it seemed good value, was $15 on special. I am just not familiar with UDEMY and how legit it is etc.

As for Linked IN learning, we have an account that covers everything. They have quite a lot of certificatiom courses, what Id like to know, can you show on your Linkined IN profile what courses and certifications you have attended via thieir training?

Now that would be a good use of Linked IN Learning.

Udemy is legit. It is basically a marketplace. They follow a Briscoes model, which a sale several weeks per month, so you need to be a fool to pay the "full price". Maybe if you wait a few days or week you can get the same course by $10. Quality of the courses vary, but as it is a very competitive for content creators the ones that are recommended by the algorithm with hundreds or thousands of reviews are good value. Most popular courses are continually updated. At least in my area, I never found a linkedin course that worths the time, so when I want to pick a new skill I just go straight to udemy and buy the most popular course on special. A good thing of Udemy is that once you buy a course if yours forever, unlike subscription based sites where you lose access when you cancel your subscription.

No clue. Probably yes, as linkedin can use that as an incentive for you to buy a course from them. TBH at least in my area I roll my eyes on people who add those Udemy or Linkedin completion courses, as the main skill it proves if that you can click the next button. I guess it's ok for people without experience as if shows you have some interest in the area, but people with experience will go for an industry certification where the pass barrier is high.

Maybe you should work backwards. Work out which certification you need to get the job you want, work out the training you need to get that certification.

i have LinkedIn contacts (people I personally know) that have LinkedIn Learning achievements displayed under 'Licenses and Certifications', so it looks like you will get that.

i guess it boils down to your objective in taking these courses - gain 'certification' or actually learn something.

these things don't matter much to me when hiring somebody for a job. when looking for some technical capability, actual experience counts so much more than certification. we see CVs that have a lot of these certifications having, in some cases, only 3 months of actual software development/testing experience... vs others with none of these but a solid track record of actually doing it in a professional capacity. but i've gone way past your query, and i apologize.

That is what Im referring to, Certification courses, and of course a passed exam?

We have open access via prior Linda.com so I was planning to use their Study guides for specific certification exams. Id imagine hese will show up under your learning along with the certification?

That is what I am refering too. I know which courses on Linkedin are related to the certification required. I was just asking once you complete the training does this show up somewhere on LinkedIn? (along with the passed certification).

I believe it. I look at some certifications in LinkedIN, then I look at Udemy and the course covers a lot more ground, ie it explores Waterfall vs agile.

But linkedin has the courseware for specific certifications. But for general Knowledge, Udemy looks better to me.

You do not need previous Project Management experience for CAPM

Yes this is true. I just dont know how seriously people take CaPM. But, its a pretty easy exam. Prince two, foundations is easy, but the practioner gets hard.

I was hoping I could do one of the aGile certs via linkied in learning, but they have more rules than PMI. I could just sit it and hope I dont get audited.. Thats the beauty of that guys udemy course, covers conventional PM as well as agile. Hes only been doing it 7 years but that is a pretty solid course, is a shame it couldnt be turned into a single exam certification as it covers everything practically needed.

Even though it wouldnt sow up in my academic transcript. I can just add it to my education and give it a brief spiel of what it covers, do CaPM cert maybe that is enough. Im just worried as Ive not had a complete long break from IT, even though I kept my finger on the pulse. Im worried any break will just see my CV binned etc.

Im a pretty good talker in person, I just stay calm and try to answer what they would like to hear.

Im hoping more to head toward Ent arch in azure in time, possibly product management, combined with azure ai......

Thanks everyone, its a fine line getting enough proven education to be back in the loop vs over doing it.

(apologies re typing, I have a broken keyboard. going to pull it apart latter as somebody else, well many had same issue, the keyboard clip fails and is taped dowb from factory).
