deadlyllama: The main take-away from the graphs in that PDF is who ever made the PDF needs to make it look more professional and not like a 13 year old made it.

there are heaps of pretty stats and pictures in there, hardly any of them apply to whats actually being talked about

I would be happy for our council to provide gigabit fibre and put it in the rates - we're not getting UFB until late 2019.
Hope I'm alive to see it.

can wairoa residents afford a $22 per month increase in rates on a non essentail service, do the rate payers get a voice on this as the report highlights low incomes very strongly, dont do a LB wairoa.

The report contains out of date statistics, poor technical data and is is not very forward looking.

The proposed bandwidth is doomed before it starts with 150 access points and 30 users per access point.

There is VDSL in Wairoa.

VDSL is available for a lucky few. I am 500m from a fibre fed cabinet, but my feed is 1.2km from the exchange.

150 access points covering the 1524 homes of Wairoa would mean 10 homes per AP. Somehow they're going to change the laws of physics so a single Omni antenna can deliver a -70dBm signal to 30+ devices. At least allowing for the fact people there are lower socio economic we wouldn't look at the average urban area in a wealthy city where those 10 houses would now probably mean 100+ wireless devices.

No mention of very basic things such authentication, security, or IP management.

If you're only 500m from the cabinet you should be able to get VDSL, surely?

Spark/Chorus would not move my copper feed from the exchange to the cabinet.

Maybe 1524 homes. Population about 8k. Maybe more users than 10 per access point.

Chorus can't just change a single MPF routing - it's either from an exchange or from a cabinet.

I thought the Govt was going to fund UFB fibre in towns like Wairoa... If councils push it.
I think the Wairoa council should promote the UFB fibre.

Not much, that's kind of why you are having to show graphs at the start that people are leaving...

Should I also point out Page 20... #1 thing that 'makes us happy' is 'intimacy / love making', and the #1 people that 'make us happy'... 'friends'.

How old is this presentation? I note it still references Telecom a lot in the current tense, which is clearly a few years behind for a professional document.

This has to just be someone trying to scam the council out of some money. I cannot believe that this is a genuine proposal. Whoever wrote it just has near-zero technical understanding of what they're proposing. Nor maths, since they say double $400k is $750k.

Sorry, the whole thing seems laughable...
