1244 sounds interesting..
i wonder if chorus have possibly changed the ADSL maximum from 1344 (which there is a bug in chorus's system where it would not change the profile)
is this asid still on spark?

The line is still with Spark, but the broadband is with DTS.

Ah, Can't check the profile from my end.
Chorus recently made a change to their ADSL profile, I haven't got intel on what that change was, but it was causing a bit of an issue on their network.
My gut feel was it was upstream related, Seeing this it would not surprise me.
Ask DTS to run a short LQD and check the Upstream bitrate (FEC) graph for where the "max bitrate US" figure is.
If the Max line is right down at 1.2.... You have a profile error on chorus's end. (which is what it sounds like)
i'll do some big data mining into it, but as laptop is strategically left in the office it has to wait.
For VDSL, it should be about at the 50K mark with current profiles.

Thanks for the advice, it's much appreciated. I can't migrate the client to Office 365 and a hosted PABX with 1.2 Mbps of upstream bandwidth.

just had a powercut here, my ADSL line resynced to exactly 1244 upload with a high snr... highly suspect indeed there is a bit of a profile change at play and your caught up in the profile error issue!
Great to see it happen elsewhere tbh... I struggle to gain traction on it, Cleanup the lines i do find with it... One day i'll have to audit all our vdsl ciruits......

Voyager said I should get "perfect" DSL based on the line length. The exchange building is literally over the road.
Found the master jack, unplugged the internal wiring from the back of it and plugged the modem in.
20Mbps up/down. Attainable downstream was wobbling all over the place. Here's a sample:

Went in to Timaru to get some scotchlok connectors and RJ11 plugs. Wired some cat5e up -- one pair to the line to the street, one pair to the back of the master jack. Other end, two RJ11 plugs, one for the DSL port on the modem and one for the phone port.
Plugged it in and:
Upstream line rate (kbit/s):29998
Downstream line rate (kbit/s):69996
Maximum upstream rate (kbit/s):38480
Maximum downstream rate (kbit/s):119063
Upstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 14.7
Downstream noise safety coefficient (dB): 17.7

I'm guessing the 30/70 is a linecard limitation :-(
The phone does not work for me, but I really only need the phone in the office by the modem anyway.

Totally missed tihs one, Yeah your on a ikanos linecard. 70/30 is the limit.
You may be likely to get a linecard switchout for vectoring which will do upto the full current maximums of 108/51

Do you know what the timeline for that is, Hio? I'm also on a Ikanos and should see a decent improvement if the 70/30 limit were removed.

Still very heavily rolling out the linecards themselves. Profiles may be awhile before fully flicked.
Massive bunch in chch coming up.

Hi guys here's my Vodafone VDSL2 connection stats, could someone who is knowledgeable about VDSL2 connections take a look at them & be able to tell me if sync speeds are normal or if I may have a fault on the line or something. I have a master filter splitter installed with seperate jack points for phone & modem. My modem is a Fritzbox 7340. I'm in Picton & have been told by Chorus via email that I'm about 560metres from the cabinet I'm connected to & a Chorus tech told me I'm 1.6kms away from exchange. Cheers for any advice is much appreciated

Hi Team - Long time lurker, first time poster.
Just moved into a house I bought in Geraldine - very close to the centre of town, so only a few hundred metres from the exchange, but my VDSL connection has some sub-par line attenuation (36dB up/41dB Down) and I'm only getting 13mbit down/ 3.6mbit up line speed
House is 1950's and has one of the old style drop lines that feeds into the roof. VDSL was installed a couple years ago - well before I moved in - and I believe the cable they ran down into a dedicated jack is Cat5e. I took the face plate off all the other phone jacks in the house and clipped the line so the VDSL is the only thing using any jack point in the house. Any tips?
The pic below is how the Cat5 wiring is connected up to my modem's VDSL cable.
