With UFB being the primary focus, are Chorus still implementing new cabinets for ADSL2+?
For example on approx 81 Cameron Road, Hamilton East. A cabinet HNE/09. on the Hamilton East exchange was scrapped according to the 2011 May Cabinet Forecast. Reason was "Growth slower than expected". http://bcc.telecomwholesale.co.nz shows nearby areas having cabinets
For example old farm road which is the next street over is cabinetized. In comparison the area which this cabinet would have serviced has had constant development for the past several years.Theres been several blocks of flats go up; a very large block which was 1-2 hours is now a 10+ flat block, as well as a smaller 6 flat building go up in the past few months. One residential connection is turning into 6+ individual lines. Sync rates in the area seem to be 4-6mbit or so.
The demand for new flats is because of it being right by the University. More and more older houses are getting bowled year on year and blocks popping up. And uni students are always known to be high users.
So back to the general question, as I imagine Chorus doesn't care much for a specific example. Are new cabinets going to be deployed? Or is the entire thing now taking a backseat due to fiber?
