Is anyone currently on this plan, or tried it?

Whats it like in terms of speed and downloading via p2p?

I have just dumped Xtra's Go Large plan after three weeks or crappy connections and p2p being non existant, I'm sure they were throttling my p2p 24/7, not just during peak hours so after many complaints and no action, I've finally given up on it, and plan on trying the Woosh Orbit Flatrate plan instead...

Switching providers for the flatrate plan will not make any difference as the wholesalers throttle and manage that plan as well.

Yeah this I know, and I asked Woosh if they have the same problems etc, but the service desk operator assured me that they do not have the same problems as Xtra's Go Large plan?

I am told that while it is provided by Telecom and is the same wholesale package as the Go Large plan Xtra sell, the companys have different software/systems to manage these plans and thier bandwidth quota etc...therefore provide different results?

Also the terms of Woosh states that they will only throttle the speed untill 12am if over 700mb is used between 5pm and 12am...theres no mention of throttling p2p or 'fair use pools'....

So that may be conflicting in terms of what the wholesaler does and what the retailer sells, but could it be a case of either misleading information?...or the retailer adding additional value to thier product to give it a point of difference, more marketable over others, as an additional cost to themselves?

have just switched to woosh's $79.95 account so I cant comment about the flat rate orbit. :(
Very impressed so far.

I'm on the Orbit Flat Rate.

I switched from the 'Fusion' wireless phone+broadband which was painfully slow.

Fortunately, the wired plan is MUCH better.

Download speeds are around 2.5 - 3 mbits/sec and P2P works fine with speeds on popular torrents around 100 KB/s

I'm happy.

100kB (kilo bytes) is equal to 800kb (kilo bits)....is that what you are getting?
Or are you getting 100kb?

Yep, thanks, as a developer, I know the difference between bits and bytes - 8 bits in 1 byte and all that.

To clarify, I get around 100 kilobytes / second or 800 kilobits /second on bittorrent for popular torrents.

but normal download speeds are much faster for internet surfing, you tube etc... at around 250 KB/s

Having just come back from 3 years in Japan, I'm a little disappointed by NZ Internet speeds and plans.

I had 50Mbit/s up and down with no data caps over there for about $30 p/month. There were no data caps on any of the internet plans in Japan. Still, NZ seems to be getting there, if a little slowly.

Im on the Woosh Orbit Flatrate plan and on torrents I get anywhere from 60 - 400kb/s but usually averaging 160kb/s

I have been on orbit flat rate plan now for 1 month and yes they definately restrict international traffic even thou they say they dont I use to be able to geet speed tests on speedtest.net of around 3500 kb/s to the Sydney server but now am lucky to get 500kb/s athough if I test with the Auckland server results are fairly similar so I hope this answers your question
