Just wondering if someone can tell me what all the lights on the ONT signify.

Have just recently we've had a number of internet disconnections, which required a reboot of the ONT to get going again.

Phoned Telecom who are going to send someone around to have a look.   I was told by the Telecom support person that a flashing optical light (green) indicates a fault somewhere.  However I've read elsewhere that this just signals internet traffic.

So... what do all of those lights mean... and does a flashing green optical light indicate a problem.

By the way, the other lights on the ONT are

Power - Green solid
Optical - Green flashing
Fault - unlit!
Lan - Orange and flashing

Had the fibre connection for a couple of months now, and this is the first problem.

The ONT's are prone to overheating, have you possibly got anything that might help it do this?

Thanks

So the Telecom support person was wrong.  Green flashing for Optical is just normal.....

Correct - it is how it is supposed to work

As the ONT is not a Telecom Product - but part of Chorus's network Im not surprised that the basic support teams from any of the RSPs know anything about them yet - it will take time

Depends on the ONT though. The Huawei ones (if you live Hamilton, Tauranga or Christchurch) a flashing PON light means that there is connectivity but the serial number of your ONT hasn't been provisioned to a OLT port. Once this is done then the PON light goes solid. Typical install the sub-contractor will finish all the civil and internal work, plug in ONT and get flashing PON light, call the NOC and give serial number and then solid PON light.

Also keep in mind if you are the first one on your fibre exchange/carbint it will takes time for exchange/carbint and ONT  to set itself up, somewhat 3 to 4 hours.
