Hi, what you have shown is all the same but a bit different. The UFB roll out is primarily using blown fibre. So the guys building in your area at the moment are not laying fibre, they are just installing small micro ducts, so mere plumbers if you please.

Blown fibre as used by the UFB consists of small 3mm inner diameter ducts, if they are in a larger bundle they have an outer dia of 5mm as seen in the four duct coil in your top photo. The lower photo is what is presented at a typical property perimeter, this consists of a single duct again it has an inner dia of 3mm and the internal duct again is 5mm outer dia, but is then strenthened by a further tough outer black sheath bring it up to 7mm.

At various points in the ground the installers can split out individual micro ducts from a bundle and using compression joints connect to single lateral feeds to each house.

Regardless all this micro plumbing is compression fitting (similar to how a plumber does water pipes in your house) joined together to create a continuous micro duct back to a pit near by where an optical splitter and fibre distribution point is, from there to the side of your house a small fibre bundle of two Single Mode fibres is blown up this duct to your house, this bundle is approx 1mm in diameter. When the fibre is installed in the duct compressed air is forced up the duct also to assist float the bundle on its journey, typically it will move at about 100m per minute.

first one looks like it will eventually go up the pole and connect to a box attached to the pole for overhead installs, the second one will be between 2 properties and will be for underground installs, will have some sort of cover over once its got connections to it.

Looks like the contractors are using a hybrid fibre install... most underground, some up poles, underground fibre duct to property boundary...

Haha. No. I was home and watched when they did mine and they just loosely shovelled the soil back over it and left. A couple of months latter my neighbour got his done and they just did the same thing The joint is in what looks like an old fuse type see through tube sealed at each end
