Yes, you read right.  You don't hear it too often.  I've been waiting for fibre in Titahi Bay for ages.  Supposed to be in early Jan and since about 1st march I've been checking every day on Orcon's website.  12th March, bingo it's available and I requested a plan change straight away.

About an hour later I had a confirmed appointment for the scoping and install.  But wait, the dates were a month out, nooooo.  Ok, there's a link to re-schedule, checked that and was able to set the scoping for a week from that day and install a week later, very happy with that.

The day before the scoping visit I got a call from the tech to confirm when he would be there, time agreed and I stayed home.  Couple of hours before the scheduled time he txt'd to say he was running late and would be about an hour later than thought.  I thought here we go, it's started but lo and behold he turns up at the new time.  Very polite, professional, we agree the install and method, he writes it up, I sign it and he finishes all the outside work.  Crikey, this is going well.

Two days before the scheduled install the same tech rings me to say he has some free time can he install the fibre today?  I say I'll be home at 1pm, he says I'll be there at 2pm, turns up and finishes the job.

The job doesn't get signed off in time and Orcon have some provisioning to do in the background (not expecting it be done early) so the fibre's not working that day and the next day there are some issues so it's not going till one day early (disaster!!).

Very impressed with the tech, didn't get his name but he was definitely awesome.  And, Orcon, your NZ based helpdesk makes a huge difference as does the online system for rescheduling the scoping and install visits.  Tops marks all round.

If you were with Orcon prior to fibre install, I recommend checking that you will now be charged the best fibre price that Orcon offer.

I was on the $100.95 internet and landline - ADSL/no fixed term plan with Orcon. When fibre was available in my area, Orcon emailed an offer for fibre with no change in cost to me. I've just realised that the basic fibre plan costs $84.95. - though there is now a $5 charge for the homeline.

Other services have also changed prices (such as the countries in the international calling packs - South Africa is now in the Top 10 pack for $10, was previously on the $20 pack).

I'm a pretty new Orcon customer so am on the best price, plus 6 months at half price.

Hey that’s awesome to hear, thanks for letting us know! Too often when things go smoothly we simply get on with our lives and don’t take the time to provide feedback on our positive experiences. I appreciate you doing so, and will make sure this gets fed back to the field manager for recognition. ^Richard
