Jase2985:

you are saying is correct about the memory, then you need to enable DOCP or XMP in the bios to get the 3200Mhz advertised speed on the memory.

https://www.gigabyte.com/nz/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-PRO-WIFI-rev-1x/support#support-manual

Just on the manual, page 6 it says

"Support for DDR4 2933/2667/2400/2133 MHz memory modules"

https://download.gigabyte.com/FileList/Manual/mb_manual_b450-aorus-pro-wifi_1101_210618_e.pdf?v=23c47da2a95e3f1eb09b95aee882487e

Is this saying the board can't even handle 3200Mhz?

read the spec page here:

https://www.gigabyte.com/nz/Motherboard/B450-AORUS-PRO-WIFI-rev-1x/sp#sp

Support for DDR4 3600(O.C.) / 3466(O.C.) / 3200(O.C.)

You have XMP enabled and its showing its running at 3200Mhz, in the BIOS, Speccy and CPU-Z

you have this ram at present
Crucial Ballistix Sport AT BLS8G4D32AESTK 3200 MHz, DDR4, DRAM, Desktop Gaming Memory, 8GB, CL16

you just need another set of 3200MHz CL16 RAM so it will operate the same as what you have

pick your poison

Cheers, why does it say 2400Mhz on Speccy and CPU-Z? Any clues?

Okay thank you so much for your help, this has branched off into two points now. Should I see 3200Mhz or 2400Mhz first of all.

Here's a range of images from my BIOS, CPU-Z and Speccy... any advise welcome

jjust stop.

you are running at 3200Mhz.

1600 single channel x2 (dual channel) = 3200Mhz

your bios is also saying 3200Mhz.

haven't we been through this before in another thread?

They report the frequency

but remember its DDR memory, Double data rate, so you double the frequency

No need to be an ass. I'm not an expert in this stuff. I'm trying to learn. For all I know this 2400 refers to the speed. Happy to learn and be educated on it as long as it's done respectfully.

the 2400MHz is the default speed it will run if you just throw it in and dont enable DOCP/XMP (i use the name of both because some manufactures call it something different)

yes you brought a 3200MHz kit, but you need to enable DOCP/XMP to actually get the advertised speed of the kit. Technically its an overclock.

And when I install this new ram. Does it go into slots 1 & 3 or to do I 1 & 2 and move 2 & 4 to 3 &4 or does it make no difference?

Do I need to do anything to BIOS?

you dont change anything, you add it to the 2 empty slots, which from the looks are slots 1 and 3.

all you need to do is check the bios has the ram running at 3200Mhz
