I'm looking to build a Windows Server 2012 Hyper-V (standalone) machine. And I came across 2 potential ex-leased machines.
One is a server with Dual-CPU XEON 5130 @ 2.0GHz with 4GB RAM, and another is Dual-Core E8400 @ 3.0GHz with 4GB RAM.
My main task is to have 2 VMs running on Hyper-V, their operations are not intensive at all... Would it be sensible to pick the Dual-CPU despite lower clock speed option over slightly modern Dual Core E8400?
A potential twist to this, I could get 2x E8400 machines to run if I had to, but I would prefer to save some power usage.
I'd appreciate if anyone can give a good insight on this, and give a response fairly soon if possible.
