Help!
I just finished my new computer only to find that my onboard sound isn't working!
I have tried the motherboard connections and windows says that it is working and connected but no sound is being played through the jack?
Thanks

Nerdtastic: Sorry,
my motherboard is a Gigabyte Z87-HD3.
I am not sure what audio chip it is, only that it is made by Realtek.
I will get back to you on the software. When i plug the headphones in, it detects them when plugged into the mic, but not the headphone jack.
Would it be a driver or a hardware issue?

As mentioned above... check the software ..... look audio software/drivers for somthing "Realtek" or IDT.
sorry I dont know much about windows 8, but in the classic windows you can usually find this audio software on your taskbar on its own or accessed via the volume control (or control panel). It is this software which will be telling ALL the audio inputs and outputs on your motherboard what to do. It will be easy to change and using a graphical interface.
