Hi,

I purchased 2 BenQ BL2710 monitors at the end of last year and one of them constantly has a problem, it flickers like crazy at times.

I have returned it for RMA multiple times to the store I got it from, it was very intermittent so there were a few times they didnt find anything and returned it to me. I had to show them a video recording of me changing the cable, switching a port on my video card to rule it out.

There were 2 times where it was returned to their supplier, I had been in contact with them through the process and the first time they said they "fixed" it by replacing the part. When I got it back the power button didnt work anymore and the flicker would come back. The second time they said they replaced the monitor, it was ok for awhile but the flicker is coming back again.

What else can I do? It is always just that one monitor. Is there anything in my home that would cause it to become like this? Both monitors are connected to the same surge protected powerboard. The only other thing I have close to it is a floor lamp.

Thanks

Good video showing the two monitors side by side.

If you swap the monitors (disconnect ALL of the cables, swap the monitors over, reconnect the cables, does the fault stay with the physical screen or with the display cable?  (i.e. good monitor had VGA, bad monit had DVI, after swapping good monitor has DVI and the in theory bad monitor now has VGA.)

Hi,

That was one of the things they got me to try, I swapped the cables around, used different cables and that in turn made me use different ports on my graphics card. I also actually used a different graphics card as well because when I upgraded my monitor, my card then couldnt handle 1440p in games so I needed an upgrade. The flicker would always be that one monitor.

Thanks

If the monitor has been back twice and returned to you with the same fault twice, you have given them fair opportunity to resolve the issue.

https://www.consumer.org.nz/articles/letters-about-goods

For the first letter, in the Describe Problems area, mention the item has been back to them twice and has come back with the same fault.

If you need any further help with this, let us know.  Someone on GZ has almost always 'been there and done that'.

If you purchased a matched pair of monitors and they offer a replacement that is a different model so you no longer have a matched pair, you can reject this offer.

Where is your cellphone when this is happening? I have had no end of problems with dropouts when I have a 2G phone on my desk, even if its just near a USB cable that then is going thru the same bundle as the displayport cable. Only happened when I went to the 970, the previouse 7xx card was fine. Its a different problem to what you have there, but it is something affecting the monitor.

Other thing for backlight flicker is set the brightness to 100%, and turn off any of the BS sounding contrast enhancing options. On a cheap LG that had really bad PWM backlight flicker and there was a contrast enhancer that just turned it down when it thought it could get away with it. Ot that might have been the power saving ecobollux option.

Hi,

My cellphone is usually on my left so to the left of my good monitor. The 2 monitors I had were the 670 and right now the 980ti.

Ill try to see what settings there are, turn some settings off and see what happens in the next few days.
