Don't ask why but I am trying to set up an s-video connection from the TV out of an old graphics card to an equally old Sony DVR. I am using a different old Panasonic DVR as a second test source.
With the Panasonic, I can view whatever it is outputting to the s-video port via the Sony to an HDMI TV. It works exactly as it should.
With the s-video out of the PC card, I can't get anything at all. When the computer boots, the following message (presumably from the Sony DVR) appears on the TV: "The TV system of this signal is different from the recorder's setting."
I have no idea what this is referring to. I have checked all the Sony settings. PAL/NTSC makes no difference. Trying to match the TV resolution makes no difference. Nothing else I have tried makes a difference.
I don't think this is related to any kind of copy protection since there is no problem feeding one recorder to the other. It is quite possible the issue has to do with the graphics card. I have two with TV out, both Nvidia. There are numerous forum complaints about the TV out on these not working with Win 7, which is the OS I am using. I'm just wondering if anyone here might know more about this. I have tried several newer and older drivers, all with the same result. The cards are 8600 and 9500.
