I am looking for a super-simple on-line bookmark tool to go with Chrome browser. I have searched around and there are hundreds to choose from, but almost no information on details unless you install them first and I would rather not have to work my way through all that so am hoping someone with experience can help narrow the choice.

Here is the issue: An elderly individual who knows computer basics but is fairly hopeless at anything demanding keeps wanting to share YouTube links with me. At the moment the only way he knows to do this is by giving me a description of the item and having me search for it. That is a real pain, especially on an Android virtual keyboard.

What he needs is an on-line bookmark tool that is super-simple and super easy to use. All it has to do is save the URL on-line and make it easily accessible from another computer. Nothing else. No fancy bells and whistles. Just click to bookmark and click from another device to load the URL. Can anyone give me any recommendations for this? Your help is much appreciated.

They should be able to press share on their android and then choose email to send you a link to a youtube video.

You could potentially use Chrome for that!

On your client's side

  1. Set up an account (GMail) and have Chrome logged in as that account.
  2. Get your client to simply bookmark the pages they want you to see

On your side

  1. Create a new Chrome profile
  2. Login this profile with the same account as above
  3. Access the bookmarks!

With Chrome's synchronising this should work.  Where it'll fall over potentially is if your client already uses GMail (on another account).  You'd then need to show them how to use Chrome profiles and I get the impression that'll be an uphill struggle.  However; sounds like they're not emailing you links so I'm guessing they dont email either!

Not an Android user. Chrome browser on a mac. He likes the mac for some reason but barely knows how to operate it. He put up with German keyboard for a year because he didn't know how to change it and couldn't be bothered finding out. The kind of thing that drives me crazy.

Interesting. We both have Gmail though I avoid Google as much as possible. This looks like a good solution, though. I will look into it further. Thanks for the tip.

Jase2985: ... email is one of the options

Exactly, use the built in sharing options directly from the browser:

  1. Share directly

    1. with another Google user
    2. or via email

  2. Save to a shared playlist

    1. Click Save button
    2. Create new playlist
    3. Share playlist via link icon

  3. Profit 🤪
